This is manufactured from 3 layers of extrusion blow-moulded polyethylene film which are either coextruded or laminated. So at 150 gm/m2 the finished product is over 50% thicker than the typical grotty woven polypropylene 90 gm/m2 tarpaulins from the DIY stores.
And because of the construction, its puncture resisatnce is excellent. There was a piece of the tarpaulin used on the bag in which it came, to provide an eye to hang it up. I used the blunt end of a biro, and tried to push through it - the material deformed, stretched a bit around the end of the biro, but wouldn't puncture at quite high pressure. In contrast the blunt end of the biro went through my old woven PP tarp as though it were butter.
I doubt that the woven tarps have UV inhibitor either, because they generally shred after a copule of years outside. This one claims it has UV inhibitors. If it is twice the thickness, many times the strength, and lasts twice as long, it's worth paying twice the price!
The material is waterproof as its not the useless woven stuff. Its not soft & yielding like pvc but does the job. Eyelets in useful places
Material is very strong and I like the green/ blue colours.
Eyelets are plastic not metal but appear sturdy when I hang them over the hooks.
Overall very pleased and would purchase similar if required.
1) It does not fray when you cut it
2) Generous amount of eyelets
3) Folds up easily
Compared to footprints you can buy this is very good value, my tent manufacturer did not offer the footprint as an option but they are generally in the £35 and up range. Not sure how it will stand up to the test of time but the UV protection should help.

I bought this tarpaulin to cover a tunnel frame and use as a workshop, however nearly half of the eyelets broke when attaching ropes to lash tarp down. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
