If like me you find the reviews of cds on the net useful. Then this is for you. One of the problems an artist like Ms summer has is that there are so many compilation cds on the market that it becomes difficult to decide what to spend your money on. The lower priced albums for this lady are pretty much a total rip off! Some don,t even appear to feature this talented ladys vocals! And the rest don,t contain the tracks you want! This particular album has what are to my mind Donnas best songs! Starting off with On the Radio and taking you through her early disco projects The classy I Remember Yesterday, I Feel Love, and my own personal favourite Heaven Knows! Moving onto Dim All The Lights and Hot Stuff, before finally reaching her classic collaboration with Barbra Streisand No More Tears Enough Is Enough! The album even features a full version of On The Radio to finish off! So if you,ve stumbled onto this site in an attempt to find the best compilation album then this is IT!!!!!!!!!

On The Radio is a brilliant collection of Donna Summer’s greatest hits from the middle to the late 1970s. As such it’s a mix of classic dance tracks and beautiful ballads. Amongst the former, my favourites include the much re-released and remixed I Feel Love - the hypnotic pioneering synth-pop masterpiece, plus the breathtaking MacArthur Park, the rock-influenced Hot Stuff and Bad Girls plus Sunset People and Our Love from the Bad Girls album. Her early albums are also well represented with the tracks Love To Love You Baby, Try Me and I Remember Yesterday, one of her best loved ballads. The album concludes with No More Tears, her powerful duet with Barbra Streisand, and an extended version of On The Radio. It’s a perfect showcase of Donna’s versatility and contains all the chart hits from that era, but is by no means the full story on Donna Summer, who continued to make music throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Good music ages well, and this collection is proof.

I still own a copy of the vinyl, the collecion spanning over 4 record sides and I still have a lot of nostalgia for this collection. What sets it apart is that the engineer very cleverly and sublimely took the tracks into one continuous mix, (apart from flipping the record over after each side!). Some other tweaking and editing was done and of course the die-hards will notice some HEAVY editing on some of the longer tracks, noticably on "I Feel Love" where it seems just as it picks up pace, it moves into the next track. Also "Hot Stuff" suffers from it's shortened wonderful guitar solo in the middle, making it shorter than the 7" single. These little niggles out of the way though-what really impresses and puts this collection apart from any other is the little interludes recorded to help the tracks mix together seamlessly, which of course can't be found anywhere else other than this album. So it's a unique collectors item, as no other Donna Summer compilation is presented in this way. It's a shame that other artists and producers never picked up on this idea when compiling a Greatest Hits, as it makes buying a collection, even if you own all the albums, a new experience. Imagine a Madonna collection for example given this imaginative approach. Since Madonna copied most of Donna's disco ideas, I'm surprised she hasn't done it. It can be very boring for fans to buy a compilation by their favorite artist, only to find there's no changes, or inspiration behind a release. Donna Summer fans, when she was at her peak, always got something different on every release, even in a compilation, which sets her apart and is why this compilation is a must and could teach a few of today's artists how to do it and give the fans a reason to buy such a collection. Horrible remixed extra tracks at the end don't count, cos they're usually terrible and just cash in's. This one got it right!

For me Donna Summer changed the face of pop culture forever. She became a cultural icon and her standing on the dance charts, for which she was referred to as the Queen of Disco, made her not just one of the significant voices of that period, but also an inspiration to other pop artists.

This album has got to the finest collection of her best songs. This album was mixed differently than the original songs issued on it, allowing one song to segue into the next, and included two new songs On the Radio and No More Tears (Enough is Enough). What’s not love here, great songs song by very talented artist.

Such a joy to finally get this album on cd finally. This was my very first Donna Summer album back in 1980 and includes most of her hits from her golden era with Cassablanca records. There is probably not a better compilation around. This tracks all blend into each other providing the perfect party or driving music. What a talented lady and what a great back catalogue of songs. A perfect introduction to Donna's impressive recording career. Outstanding
