Product description

About the Author

A former news and fine arts photographer, Dan Price is best known for Moonlight Chronicles, a series of hand-lettered and illustrated diaries which he self-published before finding sponsorship from Simple Shoes, a progressive footwear company. He lives in Joseph, Oregon, in “an 80-foot wide underground hobbit hole when not on the road pulling crazy stunts like walking across the state, . . . or pedaling over 4,500 miles on a three-wheel racing tricycle to Key West.” He is the father of two children.

One of my favourite books I am yet again reminded that there's a place for each of us. Price combines his curiosity of the natural world with journallying and his love of the outdoor lifestyle. You don't have to be an eco warrior to enjoy this. If you enjoyed the episode of The Good Life when Richard Briars hand made a suit from nettle dyed wool or whatever it was, you will enjoy reading Dan Price's descriptions of the shacks he self styles. Even though I'm not out there cutting birch sticks and hazel and drying damp socks on fenceposts its comforting to know there are others who are.

That's the kind of book you read and you think, god damn it I should have done the same! He's part of the person I would love to meet in my life, simplicity has been forgotten, I think that doing photography drawing sketching etc enables us to taste about what is actually important
