Review

An important book for all cancer patients. Radical Remission is filled with hope, science and possibilities. (Kris Carr, New York Times bestselling author)

Never before has anyone with Dr. Turner’s credentials dared to research the million dollar question: why do some patients get better from seemingly “incurable” illnesses? Dr. Turner has uncovered the holy grail those who want to optimize their chances for cure have been seeking. Bravo, Dr. Turner! (Lissa Rankin, MD, New York Times bestselling author of Mind Over Medicine & host of the National Public Television special Heal Yourself: Mind Over Medicine)

This book is filled with important information for everyone, whether struggling with cancer or not. She is giving the world a gift at such an important time as so many are feeling like they can’t take their lives into their own hands. Kelly empowers us all to do exactly that. (Colleen Saidman, cofounder and codirector of Yoga Shanti)

Kelly Turner delivers the message people addressing cancer -- or seeking to prevent it -- need to hear. Turner’s book gives you the support you need -- from science, tradition, and common sense -- to make powerful lifestyle changes that will tip the scales in your favor. (Pamela Miles)

Radical Remission is a treasure trove of BIG TRUTH about the incredible healing power available to each and every one of us!” (Christiane Northrup, M.D., ob/gyn physician and author of the ,New York Times bestsellers Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause)

Radical Remission shows how we can shift the odds of remission in our favor. What I like most about this book is balance. Turner does not ask anyone to abandon conventional therapy, but instructs us on how to add healing factors that are often overlooked.” (Larry Dossey, MD, author of One Mind: How Our Individual Mind Is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why It Matters)

Radical Remission is a personal and deeply moving exploration of the power of the human spirit and innate wisdom of the body to overcome catastrophic illness. Persons with cancer and their families and friends will find it especially helpful. (Andrew Weil, M.D.)

Kelly Turner is studying phenomena that is the very research and story sharing that will step us forward into solving the cancer plague. Kelly Turner writes as an accomplished scientist and as a compassionate human being to inspire us to question deeply the roots of our illnesses. (Rodney Yee, author of Moving Toward Balance)

From the Back Cover

Discover the nine keys that can unlock your pathway to dramatic healing.

Kelly Turner, Ph.D., a researcher and psychotherapist who specializes in integrative oncology, gives the reader the results of her research on over a thousand cases of Radical Remission people who have defied a serious or even terminal cancer diagnosis with a complete reversal of the disease. The results of this study, which focused on seventy-five factors, include astounding insights of the nine key factors that Dr. Turner found among nearly every Radical Remission survivor she has studied and an explanation of how the reader can put these practices to work in his or her own life.

Every chapter of Radical Remission includes dramatic stories of survivors' journeys back to wellness. The realization that the possibilities for healing are more abundant than we had previously known gives people concrete ways to defy the overwhelming prognosis of terminal cancer. This is a book for those who are in the midst of receiving conventional cancer treatment, who are looking for other options because that treatment has done all that it can, or who seemingly have no options left but still feel that the future holds the possibility of hope.

Kelly Turner's Radical Remission shows that it is possible to triumph over cancer, even in situations that seem hopeless. Encompassing diet, stress, emotions, spirituality, and other factors that profoundly affect our health and well-being, Turner's discussion of how our choices can cause the seemingly miraculous to happen will open your eyes to what is possible when it comes to lasting healing." --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

As a cancer survivor I wish I had read this book before all the other things I have read about recovering from cancer. It is not one of those poorly researched books offering a magic solution to serious health problems but a well-written and serious look at the factors involved in surviving cancer. What the author (a well-respected academic) did was talk to a large group of people who had survived cancer in spite of receiving a terminal diagnosis from the medical profession. These people were simply asked how they accounted for their unexpected recovery and specifically what they did to help them turn their health around. The result was a list of about 80 factors, including some distinctly wacky things like taking ground-up shark cartilage. But a core group of nine factors were repeatedly cited and it is these that are looked at in detail, This is not a scientific approach in the sense of doing a medical study with control groups and people taking placebo treatments, but a simple, and rather clever, look at a group of people who, for whatever reason, did not die when the medical profession expected them to. This isn't an anti-medicine book. Many of the people studied did in fact adopt their alternative approaches instead of conventional treatment, but Dr Turner is scrupulous not to put promote this as the way forward. My take on all this is that we should accept everything that medical science has to offer us but not leave it at that. There is so much we can do for ourselves that can radically improve our chances of long-term survival and a good quality of life. If you have cancer, or are close to someone who has, I wholeheartedly recommend that you read Dr Kelly's book. It's not heavy going and it provides an excellent starting point for considering what you can do for yourself that is likely to make a real difference to your life.

Another interesting book in my quest to rid my body of TWO tumours myself. On the road to winning with lots of help from everywhere except the blinkered UK health service who (sadly) can only use knives or chemicals....thank you

...but also an amazing manual for living.

The fact that Kelly Turner is a scientist mattered to me in choosing the book. I have always seen myself as a rationalist who believes in scientific enquiry to understand the mysteries of life. I always avoid books which sound like a load of old hippy mumbo jumbo. I admit I was sceptical when I read the contents but given I was searching Amazon on the train on the way to get an ultrasound on a strange lump in my neck I thought what the heck!

The lump turned out to be nothing but I thought I would read it anyway. Boy was I glad I did. Turner's style is easy and engaging but also seems to give incredible credibility to the hippy mumbo jumbo stuff like reiki, spiritual healing etc. So much so that I am now convinced there is something in these and I am very excited to be learning more.

This book therefore is not a just a book that proves cancer can be beat - no matter how bad and therefore an amazing source of hope and inspiration to sufferers, but I also see this as a manual for life. Maybe if we were exposed to these ideas early in our lives in our Western culture, we wouldn't be as sick as we are. Its never too late to learn. By following these nine principles, I hope to avoid cancer in the future.

Read the book whether you have cancer or not and then share the love with anyone and everyone you come across who does. I have released my inner hippy and am so much happier for it!

This is an inspiring read. Highly recommended for anyone with cancer and for those who know someone with cancer. The author points out what elements are part of a cancer survivors 'toolbox'-- radically changing your diet, taking control of your health, following your intuition, using herbs and supplements, increasing positive emotions, embracing social support, deepening your spiritual connection and having strong reasons for living. There are many stories shared from those who have survived their cancer. This should be required reading for oncologists too!

If you can only get one book if you or someone you know is battling illness, then READ THIS. It is truthful and inspiring. The day before I saw this I had a conversation with other science-minded skeptical people who were asking, "surely there must be statistics about people who have survived?" Well, this lady has started gathering evidence. The evidence is out there. Just persevere at getting it. Cancer is really no different to any other illness: people have been treated/ helped to get well and this continues. Use this book to start a journey to health.
Well done Kelly for writing this amazing book.
