Radical Acceptance: Awakening the Love That Heals Fear and Shame Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,420 ratings

Drawing on the wisdom of Buddhist teachings, illustrative stories and the transformative power of meditation, Tara guides us in healing the shame and fear that bind our hearts.

In the West, most of us have suffered the fear of not being 'good enough', feeling insecure about our appearance, our sexuality, our intelligence, our spiritual progress or - often most importantly - being worthy of love. When these feelings of insufficiency or self-aversion are strong, we fear abandonment and rejection. Many people have already found the Buddhist perspective on our emotional life to be extremely valuable - and this book will be a major practical contribution to the subject.

I got this book and i opened up the packaging and that is what I saw. The whole book has been cut of so it’s not possible to read and it’s complete cut wrong. I’ve asked for a return and a new one is coming tomorrow so we will see if it’s any better when it comes

This is another Buddha book written with yet another individual slant. If you familiar with meditation and Buddhism, the psychotherapist author provides similar points that you may have read before. However, Tara Bach takes an innovative approach by choosing her strategies ( if that is how you say it) with writing about meditation in a refreshing way. I liked the emphasis of working with 'Mara' and the use of the word 'yes' instead of no. There are many positive angles in this book. However I do find myself tiring of it at times because I have read many other books along this line before. This one is worth staying with. I have found it useful in my meditation. It might shift things for you like it did for me.

I read this book every few years, and each time I engage with it I find yet another level of its wisdom and guidance. Each time, Tara seems to be talking directly to me, no matter what is going on in my life. I come away from each chapter restored, refreshed, inspired not to lose hope and to keep moving forward. Her teachings are so gentle, compassionate and clear. She has a rare gift of making Buddhism, from another time and place, relevant to the everyday joys and sorrows of contemporary western life. Without losing its spiritual depth and freshness and complexity.

Having read many books on self help, healing, nurturing, guiding, and spiritual awakening, I have at last found the one book I wish had been around 40 years ago. I would have benefited from her teachings and become aware of what I now see as a way to just be. She combines her wonderful insight from two perspectives. The psychological and the Buddist Way and she does this with a gentle and understanding nature towards modern living today. The examples and stories help one get to grips with how the awakening of the real self can be realised. It may take time to absorb fully, but it is well worth it.

A wonderful read on my lunch breaks, I love how Tara can be in depth though keep it easy going to read. I enjoyed the snippets of real motherhood and honest times in 3HO (something I came to 2014-2020) that takes courage. I’ve since listened to her guided meditations on Insight timer.
