It is a magnificent volume, beautifully photographed, with the detailed story of the Aga Khans family history and its ongoing commitment to racing --The Telegraph, 19 July 2011
From the Inside Flap
This lavishly illustrated volume highlights fifty years of the horse racing and breeding activities of His Highness the Aga Khan. In addition to his well-known presence in the areas of world affairs and culture, the Aga Khan is passionate about horse racing. His breeding empire has been built on a legacy handed down through generations, and he now owns and operates one of the largest and most successful racing and breeding operations in France and Ireland. This volume traces the history of the Aga Khan Studs through remarkable photographs, engravings and paintings taken from the archives of the Aga Khan. A lengthy interview of His Highness the Aga Khan, and informative essays on what makes a great racehorse combine to create a unique resource for anyone interested in the 'sport of kings'.See all Product description

In the first chapter, there is a questionaire put to the Aga Khan about his 50 years involved in racing and breeding, the second chapter covers his ancestry and the racing and breeding activities of Aly Khan and previous Aga Khans. The third chapter covers the history of the thoroughbred in relation to the Aga Khan's horses. The fourth chapter looks at sponsorship, racecourse development and auction houses. Then, my favourite chapter- Biographies of 10 of the Aga Khan's (past and present)best horses.
This is a book I will dip into for years to come. Great value at the Amazon price for any lover of bloodstock breeding and champion flat racehorses.
