I've just finished reading 'Raber Wolf Pack' the first book in Ryan's new series, I've been left speechless & at a lose of words at what to type here.... Ryan has tried her hand at paranormal & all I can say is YAY, I FLOVE IT!
We meet Zara, then a 16 year old wolf heading to a party, a night that's meant to be fun-filled, but things go horribly wrong... we don't find out the complete story until later (I'm not telling you either). Fast forward a few years & Zara is controlled by her father, has a fake mate & hates her life... that is until she meets her true mate.
This is a new unique shifter story, a dark, action packed, tear jerker (well it got me)... The growth made by Zara once she'd met her mate, was wonderful, her old self started coming out almost right away. I would love to read more about the wolves of the 'Raber Wolf Pack' & can't wait for book 2....
I knew as soon as i read the blurb that i just had to read this and i love Ryan's books, This was amazing and so happy to have read, Not once was i disappointed, It's not as long as i though it would be but that doesn't take anything from the story, I was able to read this in 5 hours, but i enjoyed every page, I'm really looking forward to the next one, Thank you Ryan this was such a great read.

Witches, wizards, shifters and spells dominate this first book in the Wolf Pack series by the gifted and talented author Ryan Michele. In this book we delve into the politics of the paranormal and meet evil that seeks power at any cost. Each character is conceived and created perfectly to enhance the storyline. While it is a story that explores greed and avarice it also is a beautiful love story that not only keeps the reader involved but touches the heart as well.
Zara has been a protected shifter princess within a loving pack. The daughter of the alpha pair, she has enjoyed her life. That is until she exhibits a unique talent and her life changes from one of love and privilege to one of horrific abuse. A prisoner without hope, Zara is a shell of her former self. When she is sent on a mission the last thing she ever thought would happen…happens. She meets her lifemate, her true mate and once more she has renewed hope. Will her mate be able to protect her from those that want to use and abuse her?
Xavier is the Alpha of his pack and he is a strong shifter. His pack will do whatever needs to be done to protect their alpha and his mate. But who and what are they protecting them from? Questions need answers and they need to survive what is heading their way! If you love a good paranormal romance, this is the book. Once again Ryan Michelle creates a new world that you will want to explore and be a part of. I cannot wait to see where she takes this new series.

The beginning of the book is convoluted and riddled with unnecessary flashbacks that killed the pacing. And I'm still baffled by the choice to include that bizarre prologue. I'm also puzzled by her father's sudden change from normal father and alpha for 23 years to evil overlord without any explanation for why or possible motives other than the cop out of "power." Villains need to be three dimensional characters too or they aren't frightening (or even compelling).
I began scan reading, especially toward the middle when it became clear that this book had been edited very little. Not because of a multitude of grammatical errors, but just sloppy writing. Like this quote, "I bite my lip, holding back a smile. Happy. At this moment, I am truly happy. Something I never thought I would be again. Sure I have no idea what my life will be like or the expectations I'll have, but overall, I'm happy."
We get it. You're happy.
Then there was the scene after the MC had bonded with her Alpha mate, when they both decided that they needed to use to word sh*t several times in each paragraph for PAGES. Don't get me wrong, I use the word all the time. But when it's used 4 times in 3 sentences, the effect is comical and ridiculous (when the scene was supposed to be emotional and intense).
The flat, mechanical, and frankly lifeless sex scenes were the final nail in the coffin for me. DNF'd at 61%.
Going in a little bit different of the "traditional" shifter route; these have special powers, each unique to themselves.
Zara is in a s*** situation. She is living under her father's thumb and her mate sucks. Zara made the mistake of trusting her father and letting him know her special power, you're supposed to trust your parents...right? From that point on her father has used her and her gift in ways that....well lets just say less then honorable. Her mate was chosen for her and they are not true mates. Until one day...she smells him...her mate.
Xavier is the alpha of his pack, and he is alpha for a good reason; he isn't stupid and doesn't trust any pack out there. So when Zara's father's pack.......crap I almost went to far (sorry) LOL.
Will Xavier realize that Zara is his mate? What happens when you're already mated to an ass and you meet your actual mate?
Ryan Michele pulled me in and I loved every minute of it. I felt so bad for Zara she was in such a bad situation. If you want a bit of drama, some sexy time and hot wolves, check this out. I give it 4 stars
