I now have a new arrival as of April 2014 - Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Larry the great spotted woodpecker!
March 2015. Still sticking strong. Loads of birds come and visit. Love it.
Easy to clean as the tray lifts off the back. Great.
Next I tried a little creativity – I stuck the feeder above our coal bunker right near a hanging feeder. By the time I walked in the house and looked out the window, there was already a tit in this feeder. Then another went in, followed by a robin and so on.
The following morning, I tried placing the feeder back on the window with a fresh tray of seed, but again not a bird all day. So I placed this feeder back next to the other feeder and kept filling it for a full week.
Finally, when I placed this feeder back on the Window, a robin flew in it and from that point on, I have a fairly steady flow of tits using it every day, mainly coal tits as if placing it above the coal bunker earlier had an influence! The robin comes now & again, but so far I haven't seen any variety of finch use it despite them regularly using the hanging nut feeders.
So for anyone else having trouble with attracting birds, I would suggest setting it up next to another feeder for a week to get the birds familiar with it or if possible, move a nut feeder near the window temporarily for a few days.
As for my rating, I would have given it a full rating if the suction cups were a little larger. They’re adequate for when the weather is fine, but the suction cups often come off the glass in wet windy weather.
Update 5th May 2015: The number of birds has continued to increase and now we often see two birds sitting side-by-side eating away.Read more ›

Birds never came and we have an abundance in our garden - and what's worse it continually wouldn't suction properly. Third time in two weeks it fell on the floor so it was binned. Read morePublished 1 month ago by KT
