One thing that let me a little disspointed is the internal sun visor: it doesn't go low enough and stops in the middle of your eyes, so I'm not using it and put on my sun glasses instead - which could be a little annoying. Also the front wind visor seems to be a little tricky to open, and needs both hands to open - maybe it's just my helmet, but i need to squeeze on both sides of the visor to release it and finally open it to get some air. I'm still giving it 5 stars, as I think the value of the helmet and the open face and the great bluetooth facility is worth the 5 stars. Some might be moaning about what i find it a little frustrating, and would put only 2 or 3 stars, but realistically you can't spend this little money and expect it to be 100% perfect - so buyers beware! I love it, and looks good!
PS: The sellers were very helpful, really proactive, delivery super fast, top guys!!!!
It seemed like mana from heaven when you could buy a helmet with bluetooth functionality built in. As a helmet, yes - it's a bit of a cheapy, a bit creaky and the visor action isn't very smooth (feels like it needs a bit of WD40 somewhere) but it's not too different from the Shark helmet I had previously - it's a comfortable fit. I've no problems with the sun visor and there's even an air dam that goes under your chin to keep drafts out. The bluetooth setup is pretty good I think. The stereo speakers have a decent quality of sound, I can hear them even over ear plugs and travelling at 70 mph (though it could do with a little more volume in my opinion), battery life seems quite long - 5+ hours, though the battery hole in the collar doesn't match up to where the battery actually is (you can still get to it to fit the power cable). Pairing with my Nexus 4 and iPhone was simple with no problems. Having said that I've had a look at the insides and noticed that the wiring to one of the speakers is starting to come apart already.
What I haven't tried is holding a telephone conversation. Otherwise, I'm fairly happy with this helmet - it does everything I want from it (and if it didn't, it wasn't as though I'd wasted £500).
UPDATE: It's a bit of a fudge but I've gotten hold of a pair of bone induction headphones, which will fit nicely into this helmet as it's roomy, which get round your earplugs by pumping the sound directly into your skull. You do have dangly cables and the controls aren't nearly as handy but it works very well. Be great if you could get a helmet with this inbuilt.
I have just bought a second hand viper v-131 Bluetooth helmet. I cannot understand why people are giving bad reviews. the helmet I bought was made in 2010 so its 3yrs old...the person I bought it from toured with it all last year along with his partner so it got a lot of use. since owning this helmet I have found no problems with it at all..the volume of the music isn't pumping in you head granted but its comfortable and can still hear the traffic enough so its pretty well balanced in that respect. the phone conversation is very audible and clear too
the charger lead and jack are a little fiddly but easy enough and work perfect. its comfortable and easy to open the flip as well as easy to flip down the inside dark visor... so all in all a good buy. the bad reviews that say many problems with this helmet may be true but are you sure you bought a genuine helmet? each person is different to the next so try before you buy but I would highly recommend this helmet.
I bought this helmet on the 20th April 2011, I use it approximately 3 times per week.In July, the stitching on the straps has come undone after such a short period of time, which I would not have expected. I have sent an email to Nightingales back in July but up to now I still waiting for an answer.
