I just received the digitally remastered CD version. I used to own it on pre-recorded cassette - that's going back a while!

I wholeheartedly agree with the first two reviewers, this is an excellent album. But buyers should know that this was also an important change in direction for Judie Tzuke and her band, which I think took a lot of her fans, and possibly even her record label by surprise. The music is more experimental than her earlier recordings, and explores a lot of new sounds as well as a few dark subjects.

The first track 'Jeanie No' is one that I always dismissed as lightweight. I think the remastering does it greater justice, it has a strong vocal and a musical backing that was very contemporary at the time. This track was released as a single, and didn't do well. I think it's a track that needs to be heard on a good sound system, and the old medium wave reception of BBC Radio One on the typical transistor radio we all used in the seventies never did it justice!

'She Don't Live Here Any More' is a much more powerful track with a defiant lyric, that might also offer a message for fans of her earlier work. This is NOT the same old same old!

Some tracks on the album have lived with me since first hearing them more than 25 years ago, particularly the haunting 'Face to Face' and 'How do I Feel' both compelling in their own ways with powerful backing vocals and unforgettable lyrics. 'Walk/Don't Walk' is like a mini thriller movie. 'Nighthawks' evokes a fabulous feeling of night time revellers, and features the notable contribution of jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard.

I have been waiting for the re-issue of RITMO on CD for ages and I have to say it has been worth the wait. The remastering of all of the tracks has been done superbly (well, in my opinion anyway). This album was a significant change in direction for Judie Tzuke and as with any artist it can catch fans a bit by surprise at first. With stronger and more experimental songwriting and sounds and Judie pushing her vocal limits ever further, this has a harder feel to it than some of her earlier work.
If you are not already a fan then you should give this album a try and investigate her back catalogue - you have been missing one of the most underrated singer/songwriters in the UK over the last 20-30 years!!

Great to finally see this (re)issued on CD. I still have the vinyl and have been waiting for this. It's a very different, more mainstream vibe to the albums that preceded it, but still has some standout tracks, especially "side 2" including How Do I Feel, Another Country and Walk Don't Walk. A worthy addition to the collection.

This album came after Judie's first group of 5 albums, 4 studio, and culminating with a double live album. The musical styles on this record are slightly different to the earliest material and are a slightly acquired taste. It's not a bad album, and worth a listen, but personally, I prefer the earlier ones.

The above reviewer has made an error, in stating that there are bonus tracks been added to the reissue c.d. There are NO bonus tracks
The reissue is the same as the BGO c.d. from a few years back.
Great c.d. none the less.

Another of Judie's great early 80s albums again finally available - very of its time but, as ever, this has real quality and depth. I especially like the tracks Shoot from the Heart and How do I Feel - please get all the back catalogue out now!
