Product description

Product Description

The Rise and Fall of a Northern Star although an album in its own right The Rise and Fall of a Northern Dubstar is a reimagining of Stella Grundy s hit play of the same name which toured Britain to critical acclaim and featured Smiths legend Mike Joyce and Jah Wobble of PIL fame. For this exciting new album Stella Grundy recruited a highly eclectic cast of session musicians and performers including Nick McCabe (Verve) reggae legend Dillinger, Simon Ding Archer (The fall, Pixies and PJ Harvey), the bard of Salford John Cooper Clarke, Harry Shearer (Spinal Tap, The Simpsons) and producer writer Mike Bennett (The Fall, Specials, and Ian Brown) adding an additional twist to this exciting body of work. Although the embryo of the Album was conceived in Manchester. It has proved to be somewhat of a cross Atlantic affair with the electronic sections being recorded in LA in collaboration with Spooki Tavi who has worked with the likes of the Foo Fighters, Daryll Hannah and Flaming lips The US dance remixes of Supersize released on the 31st March 2017 have Reached no 3 in the US club chart DJ José Jiménez (Lada Gaga) with 8 other mixes in the top 50 and still climbing. It is also no 33 in the main charts. Drawing influences from a dense thicket of Dub, electro, glam, prog and psychedelia this fascinating body of work avoids convenient categorization whilst tracking the weird, wonderful and at times catastrophic adventures of protagonist and wanna be Tracy Star. Who s turbulent tale has more twists and turns than Brans hatch . Jah Wobbles atmospheric bass pulsing throughout and Smiths legend Craig Gannon s idiosyncratic guitars augment this distinctive and eerie work. Out soon!! via Nova /Universal Up next a Major tour Intastella ft Jah Wobble. With guest appearances from Craig Gannon The Smiths, Nick McCabe The Verve, Aztec Camera and PIL with guest support from Dust Junkies. Scheduled for November it will be a multi-media installation utilizing virtual characters such as John Cooper Clark, The Membranes, Harry Shearer and Youth.
