In general the construction is solid enough, even if only the transmitter has a metal hot-shoe frame, while the same would have been useful on the receiver as well. When the receiver is placed through an hot-shoe metallic adapter in fact, there are high chances that the metal slider is scraping off the plastic from the receiver, eventually damaging it. Handle with care or protect it with some plastic tape. Also, the battery cover on my receiver is a little loose and it might open during transport. I secured it with a little tape.
The set can synch up to 1/250 with my Canon 7D and it cannot go beyond that. The capability to take the flash out of the sleep mode works properly with my Canon Speedlite 580EX II and Nikon SB-28.
The set operates in a pretty reliable way, even indoor and with the receiver not in-sight I only noticed that if I press the shutter button but don't release it completely before the next click (keep it half-pressed), the unit might fail to fire the flash. More tests are needed to identify this problem.
So far I didn't try to use it for remotely triggering the camera shutter, but the cables for this function were including in the kit. On the other hand I would have appreciated at least a PC-synch cord in the kit, so to be able to trigger a flash unit without having to plug it into the hot-shoe adapter.
The kit was supposed to come with batteries (2xAAA for each receiver and 1xCR2 for the transmitter) but they were in fact not included.
Summary. They may do the job, but I wouldn't rely on them for anything critical, and always make sure you have plenty of functioning back up units if you have no option but to use these.
Inexpensive wireless flash photography
Easy to use
CR2 battery life seems quite short - always carry spares!
Max shutter sync speed 1/125th (not 1/250th) with studio & camera flash
Excellent service from BV Electronics - arrived next day.
