home so I bought this Lollipop Drum. I bought the middle size (8") after my friend had bought the 10" and it was rather big. 8" is still fairly big I have to say but I suppose that gives it some longevity as my son will grow into it... My niece (2) and nephew (5) enjoy playing with it - my niece especially which suggests to me this is probably the age group it fits best for.
With my son sitting up unaided (he is 8 months) and me or his Dad holding the Lollipop Drum he will hit it with the beta which is great but the actual Lollipop Drum is far too big for him to hold himself and will be for a long-time but like I say he will grow into it meaning it will last. It seems quite durable and has so far survived in the playroom with my niece and nephew running around and not looking what is under their feet!!
The drum itself is very well made and the colours fun and bright. It seems to be durable so far (6 weeks' use), as you would expect with it being bashed around by myriad babies in Rhythm Time. My son can hold and manipulate it easily although he does have very big hands for his age. He can use the beater provided to play it. Be aware that the beater itself is very lollipop-like and chewable - my baby has made several dints in it with his 5 sharp teeth and I will have to buy a replacement from Remo at some point (about 3 GBP but then delivery on top). Note - I suggest only using this drum under supervision as if baby is chewing on the beater and falls forward it is definitely a choking hazard as the beater stick is long and if it hits the floor the ball end could be forced down baby's throat - I only say this because we had a narrow escape. All fine when used while mum or dad is watching!
Overall, I highly recommend this product, your baby will love it.
