    As a lover of the 'undiscovered' aspect of the occupation of the Channel Islands, I've spent a great time visiting Alderney the third smallest of them and where the only concentration camp on UK soil 'Sylt' was built to 'house foreign workers'!.
    This is a well produced and thoroughly well researched film and should you ever have just visited Jersey and the Underground Hospital (the more commercial side), just watching this may entice you in to exploring further and wider.
    If you have many books on the Channel Islands Occupation then this is the only DVD you'll need, mind you there are hardly any others, once you remove the TV series and John Nettles contribution!

    This is a two DVD set covering the period 1932-1939. It includes film of most of the great drivers of the 1930s (Caracciola, Rosemeyer, Stuck, Lang) and other first rank drivers (Dreyfus, Hasse, von Delius, Pintacuda). Although the action is centred on Auto Union and Mercedes, a taste of other cars and their drivers is included. Most of the major European Championship races are shown (especially Belgium and Germany), there are others of interest like the Freiburg hill climb, Vanderbilt Cup and South African races. Enjoyable film coverage of the more private aspects of drivers and mechanics lives and the journeys they had to make by truck and ship. A superb compilation by Chris Nixon and his very knowledgeable helpers.

    I love the Grand Prix period of the Silver Arrows and this book is my standard referance book on the subject, it covers the subject from all angles even to some extent the political struggles but mainly it covers the personel, circuits and a review of each race. There are many superb photographs, as a book it is beautifully produced and anyone keen on the history of this period should have it.
