Product Description

Review

Another terrific book from this stable. Quilted arts cover a wide range and this book is no exception. Learn how to create quilted journal or sketchbook covers. See how to transfer a landscape sketch or even a doodle into quilted fabric. Find out how to colour your own fabric. Discover how to use Lutradur to create boxes. Make quilted postcards or Christmas cards as well as fabulous wallhangings. Move on to three dimensional objects and bags. Lastly explore different materials for quilters including plastic. Full of inspiration, this book will have you buzzing with ideas. The usual fantastic production qualities of a Batsford book with fantastic layout, instructions and photography and wonderful projects. Do not judge this book by its cover - although it shows a beautiful quilted bag, it does not convey what lies within- the incredible innovative journey of a quilter who has experimented and refined her art. --http://www.karenplatt.co.uk

This book by Ineke Berlyn had good reviews in the magazines but in fact I would have liked more instructions for a variety of bags and toys/ornaments. A more comprehensive 'how to' chapter would have been good and help with my own art work would be useful. All the time we are being encouraged to be origional but not given much help in books.

I ordered this book for myself having flicked through a fellow quilters copy and it looks amazing! I sit and drool over some of the projects and can't wait to get started. The illustrations are beautiful, very inspirational. The actual instructions appear fairly straight forward. Even if you don't actually get round to making any of the projects, this would be a lovely 'coffee table' book!

I bought this book mainly because of a photo of a journal cover which caught my eye. I thought there would be a pattern to make this cover and also the bag on the cover. Not so. There's a section on journal covers but no mention of how to actually make one or how to fit to a journal. This is not a cheap book and I didn't buy it for ideas, which I can get from the internet for free.

Some really nice and unusual ideas - very stimulating; the projects with given instructions very achievable. I fully recommend for any one looking for unusual ideas with a bit of flair.

What a great book, from the quality of the paper and photographs, to the layout and ideas. It takes you through a range of subjects and skills, from sketchbooks, colour and dyeing, to Lutradur and a whole host of different projects with ideas for using different materials. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. A lovely book which sits well on a coffee table enabling you to have a quick peek on a regular basis ... and keeps the creative thoughts flowing!

Excellent book with lots of ideas. Although I am an embroiderer and not a quilter I found the book covered so many interesting things that could be used in embroidery or textiles.
