Watch as this story unfolds showing Murray at his best and equally aided in the successful failure of the robbery by his girlfriend and best friend.
A must see for Murray fans!
However the script is much better than Stripes and Murray is helped along by Geena Davis and the excellent Randy Quaid. Jason Robards also stars as the police detective after Murray and his friends after they have pulled off a bank robbery.
And thats the basic plot of the movie. The robbery goes great, but they can't get out of New York City. Cue much slapstick humour and crazy moments. With perhaps the bus scene being the best of the bunch.
Quick Change I beleive came and went when released back in 1990, and it's easy to see why. It's a good solid decent comedy but offers quite little to be remembered by.
However I did enjoy it. And whilst I would be more comfortable giving the film 3.5, I'll opt for 4 stars as that mark does not exist.
Go into the movie with no expectations and this should be a Saturday night treat. And definetly recommended for fans of these actors.
Dressed as a clown, he robs a bank and escapes disguised as a hostage along with his accomplices, girlfriend Phyllis and best friend Loomis.
However, whilst robbing the bank was easy, the getaway turns into a nightmare, as the relatively simple act of getting to the airport to catch a flight becomes an q ordeal of obstructions.
Confused road-workers, con-men, mobsters, bus-drivers and a cabbie who doesn't speak a word of English, are all thrown into the mix.....
It's another case of a long forgotten film, it opened here in the UK back in 1991, I remember it played for about a week, and since then has virtually vanished without a trace. To my knowledge, it has never been aired on British terrestrial TV.
And it's really difficult to see why. Its a really funny movie, and its one of Murray's best performances of the nineties, but that's understandable swing as he produced, co- directed, and co-wrote the whole thing, but he doesn't hog all the best lines, Quaid and Davis are equally as good as his accomplices.
But the situations are downright funny, and thankfully, they are not too over the top, in fact a couple are everyday annoyances that we all come across, it's just that the characterisation and the writing make them that more funnier.
But the film hasn't aged well, its one of those early nineties movies that was still stuck in the late eighties, all the bank workers thought they were Gordon Gekko, and those mobile phones, huge!!!
But its all about the writing and performances, and to honest, they are all class.
Its a shame Murray hasn't directed more stuff, because he has a wonderful talent.

Very clever and very funny. Good early performance from Tony Shaloub. Shame about the swearing otherwise it would have been a great family film also.Published 13 months ago by Peter Giles
