Format: Paperback
This is not great literature; it doesn't pretend to be. What it is is a thoroughly well researched book about the great days of the Scottish Variety Theatre, from 1920 to 1970. There's a real flavour of just how hard it was, and how demanding, and it surely makes you appreciate how the comedians and variety artistes who are sometimes cheerfully dismissed as "passe" and "old fashioned" learned their trades.
