I am a primary school teacher and remember this story from my own childhood.
Don't be put off by the poor tv series based on this book which was shown a few years ago. This story is exciting and beautifully written.
It is ideal for use in the classroom when looking at "character" in literacy. The narrator likens all the characters in the story to animals, making for some interesting work on character traits.
A great read and ideal for 7-9 year olds.

Story about a little girl with a pet rabbit who likes all of her family members to animals/gives them animal names because she thinks they share the characteristics with those animals. She received a magical fifty pence piece from an uncle and magical things start happening to her.

A truly lovely story. If you normally like Dick King-Smith's books, you will definitely like this one.

I first read this book when holidaying in the UK and loved it so much I have since bought two copies one for each of my granddaughters. The story line is so very sweet and entertaining and I have enjoyed it as much as my granddaughters.

I vaguely remembered the TV show, but if I ever read the book, it was a long time ago. The story was good, really enjoyable and quick and easy to read. My enjoyment of the book was also enhanced by the illustrations. A great story and one which feels good even many years after initial publication.
