I have just finished your fantastic book Milly Johnson! What can I say! I could not put it down! I loved, loved, loved it! It had me snorting with laughter and also sometimes nearly in tears. Not many authors can do that and I think that is the mark of a truly brilliant author. I was once married to a "Stephen" although that wasn't his name! The Queen of Wishful Thinking written by the super talented Milly Johnson was not only a brilliant read but the audio version is to be highly recommended as the narrator Colleen Prendergast did a super job and really brought a lot to the actual storyline as she gives each character their own voice and this really added to my enjoyment.
The main character for me was, of course, Bonnie and as she narrates her own story I could feel the pain and anguish she was suffering mainly due to being in an unhappy marriage. But for her being sacked from a job she had grown to hate mainly because of a horrible boss will be her first step in reclaiming her life once again.
This was mainly Bonnie's story but we meet a few other characters along the way and through their own narration we get to know the insides of their life and I loved how each character was connected through Bonnie and their love for her. This book has it all from laughter to tears and every other emotion in-between.
Milly Johnson is famous for writing chick lit but as a reader, I would disagree as she writes about life and how it can change in an instant, and those changes can either break you or make you stronger. I love how she always gives us readers characters who may start off as not having much faith in themselves but they always come through and start believing in themselves to so that they can reach out and make those wishes come true - it might take a bit of faith and hard work but sometimes all it takes is a bit of wishful thinking to guide you along the way.
The Queen of Wishful Thinking written by Milly Johnson is one excellent book which I loved from the first page.
Highly recommended.

I finished this book today and I'm quite sad about it! It was so enjoyable with little mentions of Teashop on the Corner and more apologetic snippets from The Daily Trumpet (just brilliant!). And my actual overall favourite thing was the dedication in the beginning to Milly's dog. She is correct in saying that a pet owner won't get it and I also wouldn't want to be a person who has lived without the love of a beautiful pet.

The characters in this book are excellently written. You root for the good guys and love to hate the bad/nasty ones! I loved going back to Lew when an encounter with Regina was coming because you knew it would be so good. I also loved the names of all the traders and how they all looked out for each other and for Bonnie. Beautiful, Yorkshire eccentrics! I really enjoyed this book, I wish I could erase my memory of it so I can read it again fresh!

I don't understand people. This is a well written book with a happy ending but what I don't understand is why readers love seeing their heroines and heroes dragged through so much grime in order to get there. It's as if Milly Johnson sits down at the beginning and thinks - what's the worst that could happen in a relationship? And then writes it into the book. Which is then marketed with a twinkly rainbow cover and a twinkly rainbow title so that you think you are getting a feel-good bit of chick lit when in reality two thirds of it is people behaving horrendously to each other. But other readers love it, and they do call it feel good. So unless you're like me - ie obviously far from normal - you'll probably love it too.

i have read all of millys books and always look forward to them, i try to read a couple of chapters each day to make the book last
I started reading this book yesterday and thought read a couple of chapters and put down, it didnt go to plan the story just pushes you to read more and more - before i knew it i have read half the book!
Picked it up today and it is now finished - absolutely loved it millys best ever only thing is i have to wait for the next one !!

What a book! I literally couldn't put it down. I found the first few pages a bit slow and after that I was hooked. It's been a long time since I stopped everything so I could rush back to the book.

The story focuses around Bonnie, who's down on her luck, married to an odious man and generally not enjoying life. It's set in the antiques world, which although I'd never paid any attention to, was very interesting to read about.

Alongside Bonnie is the story of the antique shop owner, how he ended up with the shop and his incongruent life once he locks up for the night.

With a wonderful cast of quirky characters, there's someone for everyone in this book and I thoroughly recommend it.

Ok, so the outcome was predictable but it is very rare that books of this genre end any other way. BUT on the way to the outcome is a very enjoyable story well written. I love books that jump from character to character each chapter especially when some of the characters are lovely, some are baddies and some are just okay.
Unlike other reviews, I didn't think the weird nicknames of the characters was a problem. In fact, I thought they were very clever, especially Stickalampinit! The descriptions of things like clothing, housing, furniture etc was also, to me anyway, an added bonus. It's little details like these that makes a story more realistic.
The only bit I thought was a bit OTT and unrealistic was the confrontation between the baddie and the group towards the end but apart from that it was a fabulous book. I have just bought 2 more Milly Johnson books because I enjoyed this so much.
