I was really interested in reading a romance about a race car driver. I love cars and racing so I thought it would be a hit.
The story centres on Storm, a girl from a small town obsessed with drag racing. It tore her family apart and now it's landed her dad in hospital. He lost a race that put his business in jeopardy and she's left to pick up the pieces. A crush/enemy from her past is suddenly heavily involved in her life, making her question everything. With the pressure on to return to a sport she hates to love, Storm slowly realises the value of her small town life.
The male lead Max was interesting and nothing like the player you expect. Storm was a bit irritating at times, she left home 4 years ago and felt she could pick holes in everyone's decisions. Her dad is described as this amazing man who would do anything for her but he seems pretty content to let her clean up him mess.
I think the characterisation was a bit weak and they didn't act or respond in line with their described behaviour.
The driving scenes are pretty good but I would have liked a bit more description of the cars (sometimes the colour wasn't even mentioned). Also some scenes jumped from location to location without any explanation. The girls were having a conversation in the car on the way to the diner and midway through one is described as taking a sip of soda. So they must have arrived but it wasn't clear. Little things like that pulled me out of the story which is a shame.
I got this as a free book so it was definitely worth reading as the plot was pretty unique. I'm not sure if I'd try anything else by the author without trying a free sample of the book.

I love a strong tough female character. And you get that here with Storm. Also, how can you not love Max. While coming off as a tough guy at first, you soon realise he is a teddy bear in love with storm.
Racing is a part of this book, but not so much that it is unenjoyable for those not into it.
The chemistry is seriously hot and the plot keeps you wanting more.

Reviewed while moving abroad so I am updating as I go...

I love fast cars ( not that I can change a tyre lol) my fave films are fast n furious and of course the American muscle cars were the choice for me, so I was glad to see your heroine drove a 69 charger! Oh and of course a Harley ... My choice of bike!

So this books had me engrossed since page one.

I can understand the reluctance that Leigh Storm aka 'Storm' has to give her heart to Max 'Manwhore' Morgan, who was her old crush before she left home, but now she's back in town due to her dad being in hospital and the attraction is still smoking under the surface. Max doesn't make it easy for himself, both in the past and present. I'd be the same as Leigh and make him work at it, he's too cocky with the barbie dolls hanging off his hood to make any good impression on Leigh.

But Max is determined to make Leigh his, and although at first he tries his usual cocky manner, he eventually realises that he needs to up his game and prove to Leigh that she's got him all wrong.

If you love cars, hot men and feisty females then you will enjoy this book.

As Leigh and Max begin to eork out their relationship, a challenge appears in the form of a high stakes race. .. and as Max, Leigh and her cousin work together to create the perfect car to save the future of the garage things finally fall into place for the pair. I loved this story, its got the right amount of excitement of the cars and the quarter mile strip, as well as sweet romance and snarky humour.

I hope that Jenny has more of these stories in store for us.

I have received ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
WOW! That's all I'm going to say.... This book just hit the right spots for me. Amazing guys with tattoos, tall and with fast cars... and a good story!
This book is not only about a cheap romance about a girl who falls for a racer. It's so much more!
Leigh, after hearing about her dad's accidents, rushes to her home town to be by his side and also to make sure the family Garage will not lose their customers. The coming home is not easy for her. Not only because she will see the only guy that makes her feel so many things. Lust, passion, annoyance and so much more. But also because of the famous Quarter Mile. The place where everyone is racing. Where she had her first race and where she had her first heart break. It has so much meaning to her. But it also holds so many painful memories. Leigh is a really complex character. Strong, stubborn and caring. She is not a simple girl that likes the guy because he has a nice car. No. She decided to be different and not fall in the pattern of her home town. That's why she left. But coming back made her feel like coming home. She felt warm and simply wanted there.
Max.... *swoon*. GOD! That guy hits all the right places. Tall, dark, snarky and stubborn. He knows what he wants. And he wants Leigh, even though she said NO to him. She is determined to make her see that they are perfect for each other.
The book has so much passion. The sex is so HOT and steamy. But it's not only about that. There is drama and danger also, which made me feeling on edge almost the entire book.
Amazing! Well deserved 5 stars!
