Format: Paperback
Most of the example programs are quite long and will take quite a bit of keying. In the back of the book a disk is advertized but
may not still be available. For me it was a case of reading
through the programs to see how they work rather than running
them, The drawing and graphics programs near the end are shorter though and therefore more efficient at illustrating the points the author is making.
At times this book exceeds the Dummies description eg the first
example program, the Currency Exchange Program, in chapter one seems a bit demanding for beginners. The absolute beginner may be
better off with Greg Perry's QBasic by Example which I have also
read.
On the whole this is a well written book with very few typos
and will provide a good grounding in the fundamentals needed to
begin writing QBasic programs. The only thing I am left puzzled
with is why he declares his YesNo function as single.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good for the absolute beginner. 17 April 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book goes through QBasic very thoroughly but does not go very far into the language. If you have no knowledge of QBasic what-so-ever, then this book probably isn't for you. I learned quite a bit from this book myself, but I only read it once since the concepts are so simple. There are probably better beginner books which go into more detail, but I can't name any. I would probably recommend those more than this, however.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fun to read with a lot of examples. 5 Sept. 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book has MANY examples! It has examples on how to write a line of code and has programs that you type in if you wish, but they have a disk offer on the back. The book is missing a few things like how to make music on a program but it's O.K.. I highly recommend it.
