Came across "Q - A Thriller" while browsing for some vacation escapism...
Although I usually stick with known authors, I liked the sound of Q so took a chance on something new - glad I did!
It's basically an action movie in a book, with well developed characters, fast paced plot and great storyline.
(It's also a bonus that the author obviously knows his stuff without boring the reader with too much detail.)
Years ago I read various novels written by other ex-SAS (Andy McNab & Chris Ryan) and I've got to say that this first novel by KD George surpasses their offerings.
I'm betting that we hear a lot more about this author in the coming years and I can't wait to read his next book.
Five Stars from me.

Just finished Q - A THRILLER and i thoroughly enjoyed it. It was epic and you really cared for the outcome of the characters. I will definately be reading the other books by this author whehn they become available.
I have just read the review of the book who gave it one star and as someone else pointed out they believe it is another author - cheap shot to say the least and I won't be reading any of their books.Q - A Thriller

I loved this book, was so enthralling edge of the seat stuff. For a first book its outstanding. You will not be disappointed. The 3 stories all leading together was the ultimate trip for me, the concept is brilliant. Its a long book and I was so glad as I didnt want it to end. Definitely a new author on the block, this book for me surpassed all my expectations. Easily rivals the top authors. Bring on the next 2 books.

The story takes a while to come together but when it does it is great , some of the chapters just fly by, even missed a train stop. Will be looking out for the next book for sure. I really like the subject and has a really blockbuster movie style to it as well. A few key moments are a bit almost glossed over but only as the rest of the book is so good hence 4 stars.

It took me a little time to get into this because of the separate strands of the story that would eventually come together. Having said that I never considered dropping it - too well written for that.

The twists and turns are staggering - there were at least two occasions when I thought "That's it, story has now been resolved " and BANG! something else happened.

I don't often give 5 stars so when I do it's a good one.

To begin with there are three stories going on and you wonder how they will ever have anything to do with each other BUT it is worth the wait (not too long).
The story is one of those who grip you and you just want to keep reading to find out how this will all pan out.
Just start it and if you enjoy a real thriller (definitely not cops and robbers/murderers) then this is for you.

Q is described as a thriller and it certainly is. I really enjoyed the twists and turns and the way the author got some real feeling into the various characters. This is not some gung ho adventure where one man beats several armies on his jack jones but a well thought out and extremely well crafted tale. I shall certainly be looking out for more books by Mr George. Jolly well done sir.

I'd have liked to give this novel a higher rating as there is much to praise. The overall concept is good and the author creates convincing characters and action scenes.
Unfortunately, it really needs a lot more work. Right at the start my eyebrows were raised when I saw the preface containing glowing praise from a number of major publishing companies for the quality of the writing.
But this is a self-published book! Assuming these are genuine quotes I would imagine each one had a large 'but' attached - if the book were really that good surely it would have been published by one of them. (I wonder if the companies concerned know they are being quoted?)
And the truth is, the book just isn't as wonderful as the quotes suggest. For one thing it's too long and unfocussed. To begin with the action keeps chopping and changing between a couple fighting a storm at sea, an attack on a Ghanian truck driver, an arms dealing musing on his marital problems and past history and a tramp freighter in the Adriatic. There is no clear protagonist and it takes a very long time for the real point of the story to emerge.
In a lot of places there's also way too much detail. K D George clearly knows a lot about military hardware and how soldiers train. But do we really need to know so much? The descriptions, particularly of a team in training go on too long - and at a point when we want to get to the action.
There's a scene at sea involving three boats where exactly what is going to happen with all the weapons and explosives is explained in detail - before it happens! We also then get a lengthy description of the action when it happens! Some technical detail for those who like it sure but not at the expense of the story - this is meant to be a thriller after all.
