I have achieved four outstandings in a row since reading this book and now regularly incorporate many of the ideas in my teaching. It is a very easy read compared to some of the other AFL books I have read, many of which I have found to be a bit too academic. It gets straight to the point and provides easy to implement strategies for improving AFL.

Great when you are busy planning and marking and only have limited time to read. What I liked was there was a bit of very accessible theory on the pages marked 'Advice' and then how it could be applied practically on the pages marked 'Activity'. Also,it was positive without being too earnest and realistic about what is possible in most class rooms.

This book is a great companion for any teacher wishing to introduce AfL into their teaching. It has some great descriptions of the research but also loads of helpful ideas for the classroom that sound easy to do and effective. I have found other books on the subject have a lot of research but very little about the actual implementation in the classroom. This book has the perfect mix of both. I would definitely recommend it.
