Can this be clarified for future customers?
If you're already a Christian then this book is like manna from heaven. It explains what our relationship with God is (He loves us and He has amazing plans for us if we're willing to receive His gifts and follow him); why we're here on Earth (to serve Him and to follow Christ's teachings) and how we can make ourselves fit to live in His Kingdom when we die and depart this life (by striving to develop the character of Jesus Christ by modelling our character on His, i.e. not by following worldly goals or by being self-serving).
Following this way of living is a huge challenge. But, if you believe in God and the reality of the afterlife (Heaven & Hell) then there can be nothing more rewarding.
Rick Warren has turned the complex and multi-faceted Holy Bible into a simple "how to" manual for living a God-centred life. It's an amazing book that, if you're willing to take on board the lessons, WILL lead you to living a truly worthwhile life. That doesn't mean it's a worthwhile life by worldly standards, which is so much focused on material gain and "winning" over your fellow humans, but a worthwhile life by God's standards which means you get to live a joy-filled and meaningful existence for eternity, not just your 3-score and 10 allocation in this world. That doesn't mean life will be easy (it may be far from easy) but it will be worthwhile because you'll be ready to receive the amazing inheritance he's planned for us in Heaven.
I highly recommend this book.
This book helped me to refocus on what what is most important in serving God. After a failed stint in ministry, I was suspicious of Christian people telling me what to do or what to be, but Rick Warren avoids the temptation to pigeonhole people and instead encourages them to listen to the desires and dreams God has placed in their hearts, and to look at whom God has made them to be. For me, this was transformative: I began formulating a vision which has grown over time and has always been in line with my God-given passions rather than any kind of formula, tradition or other people's ideas. For a while, the fun had gone out of my Christian life, but what has followed my reading of this book has been exciting, fulfilling and thrilling!
In short, this book has gone a long way towards restoring me, and helped me to discover God's plan for my life. If you have had enough of being a pew-warmer or are trying to get to grips with God's plan for you, this book will help no end!
The forty chapters are meant to be read in a life-changing forty days; but I would advise taking it slowly - a chapter a week - and really thinking about what God is saying to you through the book.
Be warned this is pretty challenging stuff: very honest and frank and straight to the point with no hanging around. Warren's writing style is captivating and each and every line is full of meaning and provokes thought. He writes very honestly and openly and is not frightened to get right to the heart of every issue.
This book is a real life-changer and God has clearly blessed Rick Warren with tremendous faith, tremendous insight and tremendous ability to write such a book.
But remember, if your looking for a challenging and life-changing read, nothing does it better than The Bible...

Nope not for me. I don't see what all the rave is about. I think Rick needs to get out more and share revelations that are more applicable to everyday people in the world.Published 12 days ago by Amazon Customer
