What an excellent and even better alternative to Brita jugs! Four years ago I moved to London from a countryside where I have lived all my life. Our family has always had our own well so I’m used to drink top quality still water. Therefore for me the tap water here in London is simply beyond disgusting and my stomach cannot handle it. First two years in London I used Brita jugs since Amazon had (and still has) this amazing offer where you get Brita Jug + 12 filters for little over a £40. That honestly amazing deal if you compare that even 3 separately sold filters at Tesco can cost you over £12. Anyway Brita has always done a decent job and it was my top choice many years. However two years ago I decided to give PureAire a go since I was slowly getting tired Brita sometimes not filtering enough chlorine out from the tap water.

My friend was educating me at the time about pH stuff and that was actually the reason why I came across with this jug, not because I really needed a new filter jug. After setting it up and trying the water for the first time I was beyond stunned! The water had absolutely the best filtered taste I had ever experienced; it had honestly got rid-off all that nasty “stuff” and from that moment onwards my Brita stuff was banished.

I have never measured the pH values of the filtered water so I cannot comment that at all, but hey I use PureAire just to get rid-off all that bad taste in tap water. And that it does like magic! The same jug has now been serving me way over 3 years without fail and sometimes Amazon even has good deals for the filters (around 7,99/per filter) which isn’t really a bad deal since one filter can last up to 3-4 months (when one (1) person uses it daily).

I've long been a Brita Elemaris user and have been happy enough with it but a couple of things I disliked were the odd taste after fitting a new filter and the length of time the filter lasts. I always felt that it was fundamental to Brita's market to keep the replace frequency as high as possible. Not once whilst the indicator was saying 'change filter', did I think the water isn't tasting clean. Not once did I notice residue remaining after cooking either. These thoughts left a bad taste in my mouth (ha!).

I saw the PureAire on here and instead of buying another batch of Brita Maxtra filters, I thought I'd give this a try. It appeared to be a much better/cheaper solution.

It arrived and I followed the simple setup procedure then before you know it, I had a nice big jug of filtered water. Since the Brita was still there, I did the Pepsi challenge In my mind I was thinking this is unfair because the PureAire filter is brand new but much to my surprise the water instantly tasted much better than the Brita (in my opinion anyway).
Hardware wise, both the Elemaris and PureAire share the use of 2.5mm thick plastic for the jug. The lid on the PureAire is better than the Brita but still not perfect. The Brita lid quality wasn't good (I've owned 3). Limescale build-up on the water inlet; the water inlet float sticks leaving it open; the spout broke. The PureAire isn't going to suffer these issues because the design is much better. A kettle style lid for filling allows for a faster and cleaner operation. The spout is of stronger construction. The only issue I had was that when filling, I wasn't holding the jug perfectly vertical and as a result, when I had finished the jug was over full. As I put the jug on the counter, the excess water leaked out of the back.

As someone who drinks a lot of tap water I didn't really think I would need a filter, but I can really taste the difference when the water is filtered in the Pureaire - didn't realise how much of a chlorine taste our tap water had before I compared the two. I am still a little sceptical about the health claims however (I think the body regulates it's own PH level pretty well without help otherwise we would die!) I have read that it can be good for gout sufferers though as acidity can be a be a contributing factor. The instructions do state clearly that the alkaline water shouldn't be given to children, people with heart, liver or kidney issues.

I have noticed that when I use the filtered water in the kettle there is less limescale build up.

The jug is easy to fill, easy to use and easy to clean. There is an indicator at the top telling you when the filter needs replacing, which is a really good idea. It holds 3.5 litres of water which is fantastic, but unfortunately this means that the jug is too big to fit in my fridge.

recently brought this alkaline jug (about 2 weeks ago) and very happy with it as compare to brita jug that i used its far better, the water is softer and tastier and the container is bigger so no need to top up all the time.
more than that after a bit of online research i find out that it is very healthy for us to maintain our PH level balanced so as much as its important to drink water anyway the alkaline water help to balance our PH level as well.

i would recommend this product to friends and family as after long time using other water filtering solutions it seems the best option for me
