Its great, sleek, generally a good sound but prone to losing signal for no apparent reason sometimes and 'gurgles' when signal is low. Quite heavy for its size probably because of the three aa batteries it needs to work.
I highly recommend that you get rechargeable batteries and a charger as it can use a set of three within eight hours or less (if you forget to turn it off!).
Apart from that its great.
On the downside it does munch through batteries a fair bit and is kinda big and heavy for a pocket gadget.
Having read the other reviews I agree with the reception issues to a degree. In city centres all around the country, the reception is great, but once you head out into the 'burbs it can get very sketchy. I live and work in a city centre so reception isn't an issue but I can see how it might be for others. It's probably more to do with the coverage of the digital signal than the quality of this radio though.
I've had this radio for over a year now and it nothing has gone wrong with it yet (touch wood) which is always nice when a technology is new.
Great style, simplicity itself in operation but let down badly by performance.
When its reception can cope, things are fine. But for me, the radio was unusable. Not only did it suffer from the constant 'gobble gobble' DAB distortion but also complete cut outs were all too frequent. I wanted to use my Sony MDR-EX71SL headphones which are good for noise isolation [outside in] in gymnasium type environments but things were even worse as the radio depends on the headphone lead as an aerial. I thought it was down to my area being poor for DAB but then my Teac DAB 300 tuner with little more than a bit wire hanging out the back performs brilliantly, way beyond expectations.
The portable DAB unit is neat, stylish, and sounds great. As with most units, a new set of headphones often does wonders, but the out of box set-up still manages to deliver a clean sound, and the on-board EQ settings help fine tune for different stations & phones.
A little heavy with the batteries on-board, but the digital screen is clear and easy to read, and also backlit for those late night listens...
Forget standard radio and jump straight to DAB!
