Others have reported problems with DAB sensitivity but I had no problem. It was the easiest thing I have ever setup. I took it out of the box, extended the aerial, switched it on, selected English. It then tuned itself, found the correct time and then bizarrely tuned in to Radio 2 on the DAB - apparently that's by design since they show that on the getting started guide too!
So overall its pretty good, loses stars because of the awful iPod/iPhone connectivity but the bottom line is I am going to keep it. At that price its just perfect for a kitchen or small flat and a great present for a new student (or grandma)...
The product was very well packed.
After unpacking I simply pluged the power cable in & turned the unit on and followed the few simple instructions on screen and the unit was setup. The sound quality is amazing definately 5 star. Once you have got used to using the menus & setting options it is an amazing DAB Radio Alarm clock.
I also like the idea of being able to store the remote control on the back of the unit.brilliant idea.
So why only four stars, This product has an headphone jack on the rear of the unit. This is a great Idea as I like to listen to my Ipod at night and I dont want to disturb other Half. Well You can not listen to you ipod via head phone port nor can you listen to the radio when the ipod is insitu in the dock. So I find this some what annoying. Pure why is this??????
on the whole this is a great DAB clock radio & would readily recomend this product.
3 MONTH UPDATE.
After 3 months use I am pleased to say that the dab radio continues to impress me with its quality sound & usability.
I'm mainly using it as a (classic) iPod dock, and for the digital radio. Both work really well, and the way the iPod Dock rotates out of the unit is, again, the sort of quality you would expect on a much more expensive model.
The only grumble I have is that some of the basic functionality - specifically changing radio stations - can only be done through the remote control. Given the size of my kitchen I'm never more than a couple of feet away from the unit, so it would be easier to use proper buttons. Also, if I lose or break the remote control (and my 2 year old has already run off with it 3 times!) I'll be stuck on one station. I just can't understand why they could find room for, say, snooze and mute buttons on the unit itself, but not for the basics. It's not just bad, it's stupid.
