Mystical romance which kept me intrigued to the end. When the story began to near it's finish I found that I didn't want it to end. When the story did end I felt complete and contented with it's finish.
Good strong characters with a feeling of depth and realism.
Looking forward to your next novel. In this series.
Thank you Kay Glass.

Puppet of the Fates is really good. It focuses on Serene and Ryder's relationship more than anything (they're the main characters), but the supernatural aspects are still there; only the Fates are more sinister (but not much). The ending was nice, too. As it's free, anyone who likes this sort of genre should give it a go!!! :)

It's the kind of story you find yourself still thinking about months after you've read it. I loved the story and the way Kay described the characters, as if they were completely real.

5.0 out of 5 stars When The Fates Hand Down a Judgement... 23 Aug. 2013

Do you think we are Masters of our own Destiny? Or do you think someone is pulling the Strings? Why do bad things Happen to Good people? Why do we feel sooo connected to THAT one person when odds are there should be NOTHING between you? Puppets of The Fates By Kay Glass explores this whole thought. Serene, a teenager is an accident waiting to happen, she has been in the hospital with broken, bones strains sprains .. you name it it has happened to her. Constantly being made fun of or ignored by friends she is surprised when childhood friend and neighbor Ryder asks her out. With this we follow the story as it unfolds how Ryder and Serene have been connected thru the ages and how "The Fates" (supernatural beings who decide the lives of everyone ) are pulling the puppet strings in their lives, and WHY all these bad things happen to Serene. Through a series of dreams and Nightmares Ryder and Serene find out whats happening to them. Can they get "past the past " lives to find true love? can they win over "The Fates" decisions in what must happen? Read this WONDERFUL book and find out. I LOVED this book the whole idea of "The Fates" is just amazing.. I give this book 5 puppet strings .. VERY HIGHLY recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the book though YA isn't really my thing. 13 Sept. 2013

Kay Glass is becoming a better writer with every work. She did a great job with the 16 year old `voice'. It was believable in attitude, feelings and dialogue. Serene's relationship with her parents felt real, flawed, but then again, isn't every one between parents and their teens?

I loved the Greek mythology bit. The belief in the Christian God seemed a bit tacked on. There are a million reasons why a 16 year old girl wouldn't want to have sex and I would have liked to see one of those used instead of promises to god and purity rings. The back and forth between the loves went on a little long for me but the book is teen fiction - they are all over the place in real life, so why wouldn't they be in fiction.

The book wasn't paranormal though it did have that kind of feel, what with the past lives orbiting around each other. At 155 pages it was a short read, but good. I didn't feel this was written for me but I would highly suggest it for teens. There were many mentions of murder and rape but never any vivid description, certainly not enough to get censored.
3.0 out of 5 stars Starts good and then sputters and creaks to the end 3 Mar. 2013

The premise of this book was exciting and different. The fates, taking out karmic payment for a prior sin a soul commits. And the first quarter of this book was really good. Serene is a klutzy girl who has no clue why she can't even brush her teeth with out getting hurt. She is a loner, smart but not a genius, and like all 16 yr old girls unsure of herself. What she doesn't know about her past (lives that is) can literally kill her. And then like magic, shortly after her birthday her next door neighbor asks her out and that is when life gets interesting. Except that is when the book starts to fall apart a bit. The fates go from being all seeing to sounding a bit petty, her boyfriend starts talking like they are grown up and after ignoring her for years admits she is his perfect WOMAN. Add in a very short mention of God which really should have been editied out as it had no bearing on the story except to be a trite after thought to make the purity rings seem more plausible I suppose, and the story just starts to derail. I finished the book and it was not bad but it wraps up too neatly and in a very hokey even for YA fiction way. Which is sad because for a while the author really did seem to capture the 16 yo voice and feelings. I think with a little bit of tweaking this could have been a great story but as is it is only so so. It is a quick read though and safe for all ages above say 13 due to the repeated mention of rape and murder.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book 15 May 2013

Puppet of Fates by Kay Glass is a tale started by the Fates about a young girl and her life.

The three Fates are mentioned sporadically throughout the book, but that is as far as the supernatural or paranormal activity goes in this book. Kay writes this book as a first person with the leading main character acting like she is writing her life story for anyone who wants to hear, because hearing is the only way to believe.

We follow all of her misfortunes, which there are a lot in self-discovery and past discovery. The title comes because the Fates are shaping what happens to her for a reason, and a good reason it is. There is romance, suspense, with a small thriller twist.

This book was very fast and easy to read. I had a hard time putting down this book and stayed up way to late just to finish this book, although it is not an extremely long book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great YA romance with a touch of Greek mythology 23 Jan. 2013

Ms Glass outdid herself in this fabulous young adult romance novel. Meet Serene Poole a young lady who has had nothing but bad luck all her life. When her neighbor Ryder Whyte decides to ask her out Serene's life begins to change and not always for the best. This book has some surprising twists and turns making it hard for me to put down once I started reading it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes true love, Greek mythology, and simple romance.
