I adored this book and I'm now fully initiating myself into the Pen Douglas fan club.

I loved Corrupt and felt the burning need to jump into another book by this author, and after just finishing Punk 57, there is no denying that she can write contemporary romance with a good dose of twisted suspense. This book was a well formed, addictive and riveting read with a really important message.

Punk 57 highlights the trials of young people trying to find themselves, whilst trying to fit into a mould of the ever growing need of being popular. A fickle but necessary action of making the days go by easier, whilst losing a little part of your soul in the process.

Ryen Trevarrow never wanted to be branded as the mean cheerleader, and neither did she help herself in proving she could be better because self-preservation and a need to fit in outweighed the hurt and loneliness of being an outsider... Yes, welcome to the hell gates of high school.

However, persona can be an act but there is one person who knows a little more about the girl behind the mask and that is her accidentally paired pen pal, Misha Lare.

One guy, one girl, and seven years of lyrical exchanges, bouts of honesty and an unbreakable bond that these two faceless friends can be proud of, until one night everything changes...

And my goodness what an epic journey this was. Misha and Ryen are those characters that are riddled with faults, and at times not necessarily likable but wow, did they feel real.

Every action was met with a burning undertone of sexual awareness, and the tension exploded in a cascade of lust, hate, admiration, and love, all wrapped together in a wicked package with a fabulous twist that I didn't see coming until towards the end.

Wow just wow! I really wasn't sure what to expect from this book. It had been sitting on my Kindle since its release date and I had been just too busy with blog reads for me to get to. But one thing I said to myself this year, was that I was going to read more for me and less for the blog. I'd heard great things about Punk 57 from one of my book groups on Facebook and everyone was saying I needed to read it! They were right I needed to read it. It was just brilliant. I was hooked from the very get go and could not put it down.

Punk 57 is one of those over the top high school coming of age stories. Misha Lare and Ryen Trevarrow have been pen pals for years, ever since their teachers mistakenly thought they were the same gender in elementary school and assigned them as pen pals for a class project. They've been writing to one another ever since. 7 years of letters to one another becoming best friends in every sense of the word. There's twists and turns in this book that you may not see coming, with a strong message.

Punk 57 was crazy, twisted and very hot! One of my top favorites for this year so far. This was my first read from Penelope Douglas and I one clicked her fall away series after reading it

So Pen is a must read author for me I never read the blurb or any teasers just bought the book and started reading and I got nothing less than I expected from one of her books!!!

It was perfect absolutely perfect and another fabulous read !!!

Ryen I wasn't sure if I'd like her or not but yeah she totally grows on you as the book proceeds and I guess at some point in high school we've all felt the same and acted the same as she did in this story and Pen portrayed her perfectly
Misha "sigh" yeah Pen knows how to write a bad boy for sure Jared was my number one but I think Misha just stole the title from him I loved him !!!!
Another amazing 5* read from Penelope Douglas and u cannot wait for what she entices us with next !!!!!

I love Penelope Douglas' books and this was no exception - in fact, it may well be my favorite!

This story had me gripped right from the start. It was different, it was edgy, it was raw and it was real. It had my heart racing and gave me butterflies... Every page threw a different surprise at me, which kept me turning the pages right to the very end! I was gripped and totally consumed by this story.

I loved the characters and I loved the writing. There were elements of the story I could really connect with, especially Ryen's personal struggles. I loved how this story panned out & it's one of those books I can't wait to go back and read again in case I messed anything!!

First thing to grab was the very pretty cover.
I thought it would be a good little filler till I found my next 5 star book, not expecting it to be that book.
I don't normally like books with stuck up brats in but Ryen does redeem herself. I remember having a pen pal at school, but it wasn't one like Misha ;)

Douglas has a way of writing that is seamless her stories are easy to follow yet still enriched and this book did not disappoint. If anything, it exceeded my expectations from this author. The main female character Ryen, is not your average YA female character but is still very likeable and relatable nonetheless. Misha - the main male character, is also likeable. And if I’d have to use a word to describe them together, I’d say... epic. The overall plot, while at some points was slightly over the top, kept me turning the page until I finished. It was intriguing, heartfelt, and definitely HOT. I don’t want to give anything away, but I definitely recommend this read.
