Jenny Lindstron is the youngest of 4 children, she has three older brothers. We all get to know them in this story, but the all get their own story as well.
Jenny is a typical girl next door type, working hard as a teacher at her high school, committed to her family and does a lot of work for church.
She promised her best friend Ingrid to stand proxy for her wedding and at the appointment the guy is one hour late.
What a good start!!!
Sam is the proxy for his cousin Kristian. He is gorgeous and he lives in Chicago.
Their rocky start turns into lively conversations and also a little flirting. The fact that they were attracted to each other was obvious for me from the start and the way they treated each other made it clear, although they really tried to deny it at first.
Their scenes are so adorable and catchy. Katy found a great way to describe the surroundings and the feelings, the whole story felt so real.
They both new that after the weekend they would go their separate ways again. They still connected on a deep level and learnt a lot about each other.
Only when they are not together anymore they seem to realise what they really want. It was a great adventure and ride with them and reading about their emotions.
Both characters are narrating and taking turns with it, which was great, because we got inside to both their feelings. The writing is full of real emotions and so much depth.Read more ›
I really enjoyed this story and I think the fact that it's only 100 something pages, works well - in fact there's nothing not to like. It's cute, easy to read and certainly a read to put a smile on your face. It had likable characters and great story line, one that I thought was certainly original. I've never read a story about anyone who agreed to stand proxy in her best friend's wedding - it was really interesting to read how this story comes together, and I really did enjoy the outcome. Sam and Jenny were great characters; once they got over the bad start, it was great to see their relationship come together. It was lovely to see their banter and their arguments, but most importantly it was great to see that these two had real chemistry, and that they really worked as a couple.
So By Proxy is definitely a story that I'd recommend you read this Christmas - its fun, light hearted and very enjoyable.
Marriage just seems way crazier. I mean, who would want to give up their wedding day?
Two people serving our country who are currently deployed overseas, that's who. They have a "growing" symbol of their love and want to be married before the baby arrives.
They ask their good friends Jenny and Sam to stand in for them at their "double proxy" wedding. As they say, the rest is history!
While Jenny initially thinks that Sam is inconsiderate and annoying, he soon grows on her. The only problem is she is "small town" and he is "big city". Will they be able to find common ground and begin the start of something amazing, or will it just be one unforgettable weekend?
Sweet and seasonal, this book features well rounded characters (especially Jenny) I fell in love with. Sam and Jenny are a well suited match despite their differences (city boy meets country girl) and I was rooting for them from the get-go, hoping they would find a way to get to the happy ending they both deserve.
All in all, this book - an amazing début novel from author Katy Regnery - is the perfect thing to curl up with on a cold winter's night. I know this is only the first in the Heart of Montana series and I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment!
