I have waited for this book to come out on paper back for ages so i dropped everything when it finally came through the door. And I was not disappointed this novel is fast pass and exciting. I kind of don't read YA very often as sometimes I find them childish and repetitive however i found this novel enriching and full of layers about our society. the Male lead Syd who I adore is gay which I found a nice change from some of the books out their but I kind of wanted him to fall for his patron Koxy. Just ordered the next one on hardback as i don't think I can wait another year

I'm a bit torn with this book, on the one hand the world was intriguing, the characters were interesting. But the ending fell a bit flat for me, I know there is a sequel but the ending has left me a bit meh. I probably will end up reading it but I'm not in a rush to go and get it.

I bought this book on a whim and absolutely loved it. It was quite fast paced which was good for me as I don't like books with too slow a pace. London created an intricate world that seemed oddly believable. Great character development and the growing relationship between Syd and Knox was fascinating to read about. Nice to have a gay character where the fact that he is gay is not the centre of the character let alone the story which is hard to find sometimes. Overall great book that I fully enjoyed and I am really looking forward to the second book.

Funny, interesting plot, had me invested in the characters until I was shouting at them (knox) for their stupidity, good character development, a gay main character, and a twist ending that had me shouting at knox again and almost crying. There's quite a bit of death in it, some of them would probably be counted as graphic (I've read so much graphic stuff I'm desensitised to it and I'm not sure what crosses that line anymore).
I can't say when it arrived as I'd wanted it before I left for my holiday but it was a bit late, so I read it afterwards. I'm glad for that actually because it wouldn't have fit in my suitcase with all the stuff I brought back.
