It's a fairly simple device, you just conect one end to the TV then hook up your HDMI devices the other ends. (You'll need to buy your own HDMI cables for this one, but theres some great prices on them here on Amazon.)
This spliter comes with some different perks that others may not offer.
Firstly, this splitter is capable of auto-detecting your devices when switched on at the mains. This works great for me, as I use the splitter to switch between game consoles.
Secondly, it comes with a little remote. I've not had to use it very much but it does the job, and with no confusion as there's only 3 buttons on the remote (one for each output). There's also buttons on the splitter itself to switch between outputs.
Overall, after a hiccup of my initial splitter having a fault (which was sorted out very quickly!!) my replacement one is just what I'm after, and removes the constant need to move my HDMI cable around from game consoles.
i use the remote for PC and PS3, it is auto for sky box.
The kit itself - This piece of equipment is incredibly helpful and was quite obvious how to use at even a quick glance, the remote already has a button battery in and the IR sensor is clearly marked (though small), It does have a very bright blue light, but I found it easy to get used to (my mum, not so much). It also has buttons on the box just in case you lose the remote or the battery dies.
Delivery - I ordered this product alongside something else that had free one day delivery (Prime), this switcher hub arrived the next day unlike the other product which turned up next working day.
Overall REMEMBER YOU NEED AN EXTRA HDMI CABLE, you need at least 2 for 1 device. Also GREAT price I would expect to spend about £15-£20 in a well known high street shop, not naming names *cough*Maplin*cough*. Very happy with it so far nice and small, fits out the way, very happy with it and would recommend it.
No fancy set up, just 1 output and 3 inputs. There is an option for an external power source (not supplied), but I've not found I've needed one yet.
Only down sides:
The blue LED indicators to show which source is in use, is a bit bright... Blu-tack will sort them!
The inputs and outputs are located on the sides of the box with the IR sensor on the front.
But lets face it, it did only cost £8!

Unfortunately, the switching capabilities are a little restricted. I have a Samsung BD DVD player that refused to switch.
My Virgin TIVO also refused. Read more
HDMI switching works well but remote control range is very short such that it cannot be used more than a metre away from the "eye".Published 8 months ago by Mr J.
