Having loved the first book in the Sentinel Series it was time to read the second instalment and I approached this with the hope it would drag me in to the action and pull me along on an amazing journey...this book did draw me in but I would have to say it happened gradually whereas the first book did this almost straight away. This is not a major negative as the story continued to develop and I could see the author was working to bring something big to the table which thankfully she really did in the end so if you are finding it at the start to not be drawing you in fully I recommend sticking with it as this is a really excellent book that continues to deliver on the potential shown in the first offering of the series and will keep you hooked as the journey continues.

The Prophecies sees us back with Eve as she heads ever deeper into more dangerous territory in her quest to fulfil her destiny as the sentinel. But she's grown up a little and with that more mature outlook her relationship with Seth takes a turn into something far more serious. It's this relationship which is really at the heart of this second book. Eve still has to save the world, but now the stakes are upped as she tries to hang onto the people who are most precious to her, especially the love of her life. It is clear from the start that not everyone will survive and a sense of dread that 'your' character will be the one to perish is something that pervades the book and keeps the reader firmly invested. There's a satisfying sense of menace building too, and the scene is set nicely for book 3.
All in all, a worthy sequel!

This is not the genre of book I would normally read but I read the first Sentinel book and was totally gripped by it. The Prophesies is totally amazing, I was so wrapped up in this book that I read far into the night, unable to put the book down. I don't know when the next book is due out but it can't come fast enough for me. My thanks to the author for producing such a spell binding book.

If you thought The Sentinel was amazing, then The Prophecies is SPECTACULAR. Holly really moves things up a gear in all areas – the action, the danger, the romance – everything is given SUCH a boost and I went through a massive range of emotions. My heart pounded as I read the action scenes, I felt frightened and protective of the characters every time when they were in danger. I laughed out loud so many times that my husband had me reading out passages, and at other times my heart broke and I was full on sobbing at what I had just read.

I was SO pleased to be reunited with the characters and they are all back and ready to fight for Eve – Seth, Eli, Quinn and Lucas to name a few! I really bonded with them in The Sentinel and it made my heart so happy to be back on the journey with them all. There are new characters to meet too – and Zach was a personal favourite of mine, he made me laugh and smile so much, and I’m hoping to see a lot more of him!

I was absolutely fascinated by the parts with the Oraculum – in these scenes we learn so much more about who they are, how they work and bits of Eve’s history with her destiny too, and like Eve I was keen to know as much as I possibly could! I thought these scenes were so well written and added another layer to this already fantastic story. The Oraculum themselves are interesting characters and I was hooked reading about their loyalties, their opinions and the way they act too.

Being a HUGE lover of Seth and Eve, I have REALLY high expectations and hopes, and I am so thrilled that it was everything I wanted it to be and more. I have genuinely never rooted for and swooned so much over a couple in my life! Their love is so intense, so beautiful and so fulfilling all at the same time.

Another year… another awesome read from the talented Holly Martin!

Last year Holly set fire to the Twitter world as a craze began in awe of her first novel The Sentinel. I was part of this outbreak as I absolutely adored the characters and the storyline. I was left with an incredible book hangover when I finished the book and the thought of having to wait for the next instalment was horrifying!! What a tease ;)

And at last… here it is! Holly Martin has produced another electrifying read with the sequel, The Prophecies.

Before I started to read The Prophecies I was worried that it was going to take me some time to become familiar with the characters again, but I was pleasantly surprised. When I started to read it was like I was completely transported back into this world… like when you meet up with an old school friend you haven’t seen for years and it’s like you’ve were together yesterday! The characters still felt so familiar and fresh in my mind, which clearly goes to show what a brilliant job Holly did at developing her characters in the first book. And of course… the introduction of Zach! Definitely a character that has added a great dynamic to the story.

I really feel that Holly raised the bar when she wrote The Prophecies – all the emotion and tension from The Sentinel are still there, but it is taken to another level. All senses are heightened as tension increases through the plot, pressure builds for Eve and her ultimate destiny and the passion between the characters’ relationships start to soar. In The Prophecies we start to learn a lot more about Eve’s creators and see them play a much stronger role; even with some who are finding themselves questioning Eve and what they have done.
