It is very good looking and well-made metal fan. I had high expectation of this product as it is more expensive than Noctua fans. It will definitely cut your finger (or amputate?) if you don't install the fan guard. The shiny aluminium blades are quite sharp. At 1600 RPM and 1200 RPM, the fan is creating extremely powerful "wind blast" but too noisy for my ears. I don't think the fan is usable at 1600 RPM as the noise become intolerable. It sounds more noisy than plastic fan because thin metal blades create different noise characteristics and frequency spectrum. At 900 RPM, it is quiet, producing good airflow. Unfortunately, the fan resonates with the side panel of my Corsair C70 case at 900RPM creating high pitch whine. This happens even I use rubber damper washers with the fan screws. When I tested this side panel with Corsair and Sharkoon fans, I never get this kind of resonance.
In addition, the resistor of the 900 RPM adaptor can get very hot. I would replace it with Molex to fan 7V adapter.
Beside the noise problem, I cannot mount metal air filter to the intake side of the fan as the leading edges of metal blades can catch the air filter and stop spinning. If I mount air filter to the outlet side of the fan, the airflow rate would be greatly reduced. The only way to get round this problem is to mount the air filter outside the side panel which will be not clean looking.
Overall I am disappointed with resonance problem at 900 RPM with the Corsair C70 case panel. But I think it does not happen to every fan case. It is a pity that it does not work for me as I really love the look of this fan which looks like jet engine turbine blades.
