A good inexpensive phono unit. Well worth considering.

Verified Purchase

I recently bought this unit as I have re-discovered the musicality of vinyl recordings. I have put it between my turntable and an analogue to digital converter so that I can use it through my digital amplifier. It works seamlessly with them and I would recommend it to vinyl enthusiasts as an inexpensive purchase which has the added bonus of a USB output for recording to a computer.

Does NOT work with windows

This unit only works in mono and at a low sampling rate on windows, completely useless, project's customer support was worse than terrrible too.

This item appears to be an obsolete version of the Pro-ject Phono Box USB V. The latest one, which confusingly shares the same name as far as I can see, has a new green power supply. It can be distinguished quite easily from the old one as this later model has the gain control knob in the middle of the front panel, with an input selector to the right.

The newer version has been available on Amazon since last November.

Excellent Phono preamp with extras for digitising vinyl

This has completely resurrected my interest in vinyl replay. I bought it as a relatively low cost amp for digitising my vinyl but I was not expecting the quality of sound that this little amp produces. I now like to listen to my vinyl rather than the laborious process of digitising it, I think life's too short! I mark it down to 4 stars because it is a little noisy on the MC input setting, but as i use a transformer with my MC cartridge it doesn't concern me, but for those who haven't got a step-up then this unit may not satisfy. The MM iput is superb, low noise, dynamic and punchy, you won't be disappointed if you have a MM cartridge, or a high o/p MC, or MC with transformer step-up.
