From the Author
This is very much an introductory guide to project management. It was written for someone who has a project to run, but is not quite sure how to go about it.
I wrote it to be straightforward and practical - but it really works! The sort of person I had in mind when writing it was either a professional manager who has lots of experience, but has not been responsible for a project before - or someone delivering a project in their private life, such as renovating a house, who wants a process to help them get through the work. It is, as the title implies, a step-by-step guide, walking you through the whole lifecycle of a project. It will also be interesting to anyone who wants to train people in a simple but effective project management approach. It is probably less relevant to professional project managers, unless you are at the very start of your career.

Personally I found the book really helpful, I have completed a few projects without any formal training and subsequently read this book and it reaffirms all my beliefs. Now if I am working on a project and if I doubt myself in any moment I reference the book in my mind to ensure I am taking the right approach.
Project Management in its essence, is simple, for some people it comes naturally and can see things very clearly and others they need more formal training, whichever one you are you need to read the book, it has all you need as a quick reference or to help you understand Project Management, in a step by step approach.
I think my only criticism was that the author only really used tables as planning tools - there are lots of other kinds of planning tools to use so it might have been nice to touch on some of those.
