As the previous reviewer states, not many real secrets revealed in this book. However, as a quick and easy read to update/refresh your PM knowledge it is not a bad place to start. If you're coming at PM from zero background then this is not the book for you. If you've done a bit of PM and want to know some of the theory, again this is not the book for you as there is insufficient detail. If, however, you are a seasoned PM who needs a refresher on what it's all about (lets be honest it's easy to forget, especially in the middle of a project), then this might be the "pick me up" you need. It's not for novices or theory merchants, but for practiced PM's with little time to consume a big theory book it's a good little concise overview of what PM should be all about.

Don't expect big secrets revailed in this book nor much that is new for seasoned project managers out there. But it is an excellent compagnion to check or freshen up on some PM topics now and again. Great structure and very well explained. As a Kindle download and ready when needed at work it's just perfect!

A freebie from Amazon and a complimentary read to my PRINCE2 studies. Theory illustrated with examples. A quick read. And informative.

Project Management Secrets has many good tips in it - both in the main narrative and in the One Minute Wonder boxes. But I wonder who it is for. Seasoned PMs will find it all too obvious. New and aspiring PMs will not find enough in it to really help them do the job, I suspect.

The author has, I think, been let down by the format and the book is not one I could recommend for two reasons:

1. It is too brief to offer a clear process and enough information for the new PM to navigate their way through a first project. The cover's "experts tell all!" tag and "secrets" title - sorry "secrets (TM)" title - create two false expectations: these aren't secrets nor even "wise advice from the depths of experience" style of tips. They are the basics - which may have been a better title but perhaps not trade-markable. And the expert here certainly does not have the space to tell all.

2. The author has been massively let down by whoever is responsible for the layout of the book. It is awful. On a typical page, I count nine different font, size, emphasis variants. There is niggardly space allocation to the diagrams. It looks a mess and worse still, I find my eye drawn to inconsequential lettering, rather than the more important parts.

One reviewer recommended the Kindle version and I suspect the limitations of that format serve this book well, by getting rid of some of the amateurish formatting (that looks to me like a ten year-old's homework). But I am not sure who this book is for.
