Had to buy 2 packs of these as the first set hardened after less than 10 seconds and not the 30 seconds as described. I mixed the second set quickly and moulded them to my ears, there isn't a perfect seal but I'm not an expert in these things. I saw an article on the internet that says you should keep your mouth open whilst they harden as your ears close slightly when your moth is closed, if fitted to your ears when your mouth is open they should fit better when your mouth is closed. If you want to give them a go then try them, I don't know how much it would cost to have some professionally made but I've already spent £30 and I'm not exactly happy with them, so I guess you pays your money and takes your chance.

I tried this and got 2 minutes of working time instead of 10.

That wasn't enough to get decent moulded plugs - they certainly looked nothing like the photograph!

So far Proguard have not responded to my complaint, although I expect Amazon to do the decent thing and give a refund.

Excellent earplugs. Comfortable and good at reducing the noise. I bought them before a holiday where I was expecting a noisy room. They were comfortable at night, although you did have to make sure that you put your head down carefully on the pillow to keep them comfortable. They are fairly firm, although not rock solid.

They were easy to make, just mix up the two parts and mould them in your ear. I would have preferred mine to be a bit smaller. I have small ears and although the material was level at the surface of my ear, I think that they would have been even more comfortable if they were slightly recessed. Of course I didn't have any more silicon to try again.

I feel a bit of fence sitting coming on here... Having tried foam earplugs from Boots and Moldex 20 Pairs of Moldex Spark 7800 Ear Plugs and found it a struggle to fit them satisfactorily I've ventured into self mould ones. And now I really getting paranoid about the shape of my ears!
With self mould I'd suggest getting organised and set up with two mirrors if you can, so you can see what's going on. I'd always prefer to do this sort of thing myself than get someone else to do it, unless they're professionals of course. It's easy enough to mix the two compounds together but you can't hang around and pushing into the ear is also easy. However, I had a problem getting it to flow very far into one ear canal despite, I thought, pushing firmly.

With the Moldex plugs I did manage, eventually, to find a way to insert them sufficiently to get good noise reduction. I used them for 2-3 hours at a time and after a few days developed a pain in one ear, I think due to the foam expanding and pushing against a sensitive area. Maybe it's something I'd get used to in time but I can't use them while my ear is still painful.

I think if these Progard ones had been formed to fit into my ear canal more closely they too would be uncomfortable, certainly while my ear is painful. However, as they do not touch on the area that's painful I can wear them. Just.

Problem is that like any custom moulded item -and seating is something I used to be involved with- if you don't the position perfectly right when moulding or on future use it can be more uncomfortable than an off the shelf item.

Seller and Maufacturer were evry helpful, but the product itself is not as advertised. The kit does not contain enough putty to make an ear plug as show on the box and on the website. It contains only about half the amount required (unless you have very small ears). As a result the plugs do not remain in place and work loose. If you hold them in place, they are very effective at reducing noise, but since you can't hold them in with a crash helmet on - not much use.

I was initially wary of using these because of the do it yourself part of it. However, it was easier than I expected to mould them and they fit comfortably. So much so that my husband has now bought some. Give them a go. Not a lot to lose as they are reasonably priced compared to some.

I had a noisy flat mate. I hear the foam headphones are bad for your ears so i bought these. They took a while to learn to sleep with, but i am now used to them. I am sure i will get another pair in time.

A fantastic product, I use it for both shooting and at gigs. I was at a Prodigy gig last night. The sound quality was enhanced thanks to these and no ringing ears afterwards. Plus I was bouncing about like a lunatic and they stayed secure!
