Rust is a difficult programming language to learn. There are concepts in the language you won't have experienced in any other non-academic programming language. That's why a book like this is so important. The authors come from a systems programming background, which isn't my background, but they really helped me understand some of the advanced topics of the language. The only thing I would really have appreciated would have been exercises at the end of each chapter so that I could make sure I really understood the principles described in the text.

Excellent book. A joy to read and very informative.

FINALLY - I think I am getting the hang of borrowing and life times!

What it has done is make me think a lot more about the program at the design stage, rather than just diving in and picking up the pieces later on. I fear that Java/Eclipse might have lead me in to bad habits. This book is getting me back on track.
