Product description
Product details
48W Mains Solder Station
48W mains powered solder station that allows you to start soldering by simply plugging the iron in
Heats up in 5 minutes to give you a stable and constant temperature so you can complete all your soldering tasks
Temperature ranges from 150°C to 450°C, depend on wattage, allowing you to store heat in the tip to aid the melting process
No restrictions on how long you can use this soldering iron as it is mains powered
Special Features
LCD display to allow you to set and monitor the temperature of your soldering iron
What is this solder station used for?
This soldering iron is part of an LCD solder station. The iron is temperature controlled and can be set through the station which shows the set temperature and actual temperature. The station includes an iron stand and sponge
What difference does the wattage make?
The wattage of a soldering iron is one of the most important factors when deciding which one to buy. Higher wattage will deliver more power to the iron’s tip, allowing it to heat up quicker. As this is a 48W mains soldering iron, it heats up the tip within five minutes to a selected temperature, allowing you to start soldering without having to refill butane tanks or replace batteries.
Do I need anything else for this soldering iron?
This soldering iron is fully assembled. To get started, all you need to do is get some
solder. Simply unpack this soldering iron and connect it to a mains socket. After five minutes, it should have warmed up to temperature and be ready for use.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2017spolit myself by getting this pro-looking soldering iron - the temp control was an important factor as I am working close to delicate objects and the solder i use has a low melt point. This iron didnt dissapoint, I was able to do the soldering and no damage to the delicate items. The additon of a sturdy hold and a secent sponge really completes this soldering iron. I imagine there are more expensive/professional irons out there, but this one really met the balance of cost/quality for me.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 March 2017Wasn't expecting much of this product, to be honest, but I'm really pretty pleased with it. The housing is grey and no frills... even the moulding looks a little rough and cheap - especially as it's grey and the soldering iron housing is obviously a different heat resistant material so a different colour - but who cares as long as it does the job. Having said that the actual screen, controls and iron work like a charm and have made lots of very tricky soldering jobs much more manageable. I bought a couple of different sized tips as spares for different jobs and they seem to be holding up to corrosion well so haven't needed to change them yet. The solder holder can be separated from the power module as you'd expect and has a convenient little tray and sponge for tip cleaning. Has a good controllable temperature range and heats up really very quickly... just wish it was a bit more visible that it's on other than the LCD screen as it's easy to forget and leave on.
My only 2 comments on the down-side are very minor. One is the yellow soft grip on the iron (which is very nice and comfortable) tends to ride up the handle but a dab of adhesive would probably sort that. The other thing is that the power cord isn't very long so you find positioning on the bench a bit of a pain (unless you have bench sockets) and the footprint of the whole station with wires is actually pretty big.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bought in May 2016, Personal hobby usage, Broke down in July 2016, You decide ...
I got this unit on 26th May 2016 for my hobby in building my racing quadcopter drones. Yesterday, 23rd July 2016, the unit stopped working. Attach is a photo of the screen which shows a reading that doesnt change as the solder iron doesnt heat up even after 30 minutes left switched on!
Contacted seller, who immediately arranged for return of faulty item and I got a replacement within 3 days with return postage refunded in full as well.
Therefore doubtful about item's reliability but top marks for seller's customer service!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 October 2017Tip oxidises quickly. Cheap and nasty.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 August 2016The only real issue I have with this product is the fact that the display is not that distinct. As you can see from the image, the LED display is on a darkish background with black numbers. Given that this is the only real indication that the unit is on or off - it can mean that its easy to leave the soldering iron on without realising it. There is no auto-shut-off feature and I have - without realising it - left it on over night on more than one occasion.
I think the display is poorly designed, I think it would be preferable to have a more distinct contrast with regards the display.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 May 2014A nice, easy to use, middle-of-the-road workstation with very quick fire-up times. I don't know how it would fare in a professional environment, but for a busy amateur like me, it's just the job. The free delivery was amazingly fast - bought with one click on Sunday, despatched the following day (a Bank Holiday!), received by courier next morning and doing service on the bench by teatime.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 October 2015This is a very nice soldering iron, and is the one I mainly use. It heats up very quickly, and the temperature control/readout is great. It does the job.
There are some flaws, though, which is why I'm not giving it five stars: the iron holder is quite obviously separate - the plastic is a different colour - and the 'spring' comes loose, the temperature varies by +/- 5 degrees from where it's set, and the supplied tip is a very fine point - arguably too small for soldering wires/through-hole components.
For the price, those flaws are definitely forgivable, especially for a hobbyist. A pack of 3 (varying size) replacement tips is £6.99 from Maplin, and the temperature control is close enough (and any readout at all makes it far superior to old-style irons).
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 November 2016For the price this soldering station is really good! Heats up nice and fast keeps the correct temperature! Highly recommend been using this station to solder micro electronics and works just fine.
