As a business owner, I quickly realised we needed to set up a wiki as a knowledge bank so new employees joining could find out how to do what they needed to do without constantly asking for help from existing staff. Before we had the wiki, whenever we took on additional help, whether temporary or permanent, there was the invariable disruption to our existing workloads while existing resources were tied up teaching newcomers how to do basic tasks. However, despite having systems and processes in place we are still very far away from having comprehensive systems to run the business so new people know what's expected of them to run those systems. Having read Marianne's book I know there is a lot more work to do, including the creation of job descriptions for each role we fill. This is an easy to follow, useful guide for any business owner who is looking to design their business for sustainable growth.
