This product is extremely good value for money! I think the manual has been upgraded since earlier negative comments. It certainly reads better 'English'.

On a practical note... the upright tube comes in two sections. They really need to be locked in place otherwise there is a problem with the wind direction indicator going out of alignment. The instructions are not clear on this but one answer it to ensure that the temperature sensor bracket spans the joint between the two upright tubes. By tightening the nuts and bolts on either side will ensure that the wind direction indicator is kept firmly in place.

Regarding the enclosed software: it installed fine in Windows 8 but kept coming up with an error message when I connected the weather station. In the end I resolved this be downloading 'Cumulus' software that is available free on the internet. Both weather station and software are working fine.

I am sure you will enjoy this product!

Update: The weather station is running very well and producing loads of data. One thing to note: Some software packages, such as Cumulus, download Relative Pressure (not Absolute Pressure). You need to set your relative pressure correctly (this is not clear in the weather station instructions) but set the pressure reading to relative rather than absolute and use the up/down buttons to adjust accordingly. If you are close to sea level then set the relative pressure to be the same as absolute pressure. If you live high up there are packages on the internet to calculate your relative pressure from your absolute pressure (so long as you know your altitude). This adjustment is important if you are downloading data to a laptop/pc. With the original settings on my weather station the relative pressure was considerably less than the absolute pressure implying that my house was several hundred metres below sea-level!! Where I live near Bristol, UK this would mean my house would be a long way below sea-level and permanently under water!!!

The package was delivered two days after the order, come to think now that I am living in Greece. It was a very good surprise. This smartweather weather station seems to be the same as weatherwise weather station found on Ebay. I installed it quite easy and the receiver (LCD display) was immediately connected with the transmitter. The quality of the plastic is acceptable, how I cannot claim that it is very sturdy. By the time I will update this review in order to inform you about the Internet connectivity, how long the anemometer is going to work, and the RCC reception (there is no way to triger RCC reception, but is done automatically every hour, when the signal has not been initially received). As far as I am concerned I do not believe that this weather station is a loss of money. Undoubtedly, it is a nice beginning for a novice amateur meteorologist who does not want to spend a lot of money for a weather station.

    Update No1

Two weeks after the installation the weather station is working just fine. I was connected with the weather underground and PWS with the help of Cumulus and I was able to send weather data. I am very satisfied by this product.

Bought this weather station for Birthday as it initially had some good reviews and seemed robust enough to deal with Guernsey's unpredictable weather. The setup was simple and I rigged it up in an exposed spot to get accurate stats. Worked wonderfully until the weather started to pick up about 4 days later. The wind was 20mph gusting to 30-35mph overnight and the rain was about 1mm an hour. Noticed the rain guage was strange as if you place it on 24hour updates it doesn't reset after 24hours and total amount just keeps rising.
I woke up next morning in anticipation of the max wind speed only to find it was reading 0.00 and the wind direction was static on heading of West. I decided to take it down and have a look. I noticed that the mechanism (cogs) or bearings used to allow Wind Speed Device and The Wind Direction Device spin was now jamming/grinding. They would spin so far and then lock up and then they would free up and lock up again. The Engineer in me was very tempted to open it up, but friend advised me just to send it back. I read that there was a batch of these devices sold with faulty bearings, so I decided to take his advice and sent the unit back for a refund. I will look at buying a weather satellite made by Davis, which I have been told are very accurate. Very disappointed as I have to say it seemed so promising for a fairly cheap price.

I've had this for over a year now. When first erected - which we managed despite lack of clear instructions - it was impressive, gave very good readings, no problem with wireless although over a 100ft away through wall and trees. However, when I went to download first set of readings to my computer - no instructions. After a long time trying to figure it out suddenly the information downloaded - onto Notepad, a really useless peice of software that's very hard to read. However, I was not able to repeat this a month later, so contacted the company, who were not particularly helpful as they insisted that the full instructions were enclosed. Decided to do without the download facility, but by autumn noticed some anomolies with the readings ie no rain when it was torrenting down outside.

I gave this a 2 because it is in theory a good design, and did work well for a time, but the lack of proper instructions is a joke; I suspect there should also be a regular maintenance routine although there is no mention of it; and the download facility is worse than useless.
