This is acoustic treatment: the process of making a room sound better for recording or mixing by absorbing unwanted ambience and frequencies within the room.
Not sound proofing...which is the process of keeping sounds leaking out of the room you are in.
These are a great set of tiles to create a little vocal booth space for recording and really dampen the sound to eliminate any echo's or unwanted sounds when recording.
For placement I would recommend having them behind the microphone and also around the sound of the microphone to stop the vocal sound bouncing off the back or side walls .

They don’t like to stick to anything, so once you get it to stick, don’t expect it to come off easily. Even strong double-sided tape makes them fall off the ceiling unless you really melt the tape (using a heat-gun/hair dryer) to the foam.
Makes phone calls and video calls online sound much nicer, even if only I can hear the difference.
