Whether you're 'mature' enough to remember fresh-faced, Elvis-style Cliff in his first appearance on early music TV show 'Oh Boy' or whether (like me) even your parents don't remember that swinging performance of 'Move It', any Cliff fan in their right mind (OK, so that narrows it down a bit!) should own this album. From the stunning 'Phantom of the Opera' duet with Sarah Brightman, to the pop-tastic 'Wired for Sound' (gotta love those specs), you wont be disappointed by what you hear. The quintessential 80's Cliff. Play it in the car and you'll be humming 'It's so funny...' all day long. Enjoy.

Saw this rather cheap on Amazon and decided to buy it. Reason? Well I remember my mother having the LP version in the 80's and it constantly being on when we were in the house together. The CD does not disappoint, in invokes all those happy memories I have of listening to Cliff and seeing him live with my mum in my childhood. Time now to go do some ironing and have another listen!

I've never understood down the years why being a fan of 'Cliff's' music has not
or isn't fashionable, he seems to have had a lot of people knocking his songs.
And yet here we are some 58 years on, still listening to his music, and often still
buying.
Cliff' has been on the 'Pop/Rock scene since 1958 when he burst into the Charts
with 'Move It' which was soon followed up with 'Living Doll' and 'Travelling Light'
He's released some 100 albums and 146 singles since his early beginnings, he
has had 117 Top 40 entries, 65 of which were Top 10 entries, 14 of those were
Number 1's.
There is no equal of 'Cliff' in the U.K Chats, he has had number one hits spanning
each decade including the 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's and the 00's.
His music surprisingly never really took off in the U.S. throughout his career only
entering the Top 10 the other side of the pond, three times.
This Album covers some of his music released between 1979-1988 and includes
an interesting collection of great sounds, among the nineteen numbers there are
Three duets including, 'All I Ask of You' with 'Sarah Brightman' 'She Means Nothing
To Me' with 'Phil Everly' and 'Suddenly' in which he features with 'Olivia Newton-John'
all three of which are really great songs.
The album also includes the hits of that eleven year span including numbers such as
'Some People' 'Wired for Sound' 'Carrie' 'Daddy's Home' 'We Don't Talk Anymore'
and 'Mistletoe and Wine' among them.

This collection contains all except one (a re-recording of Living doll made for charity) of Cliff's UK top twenty hits during the period 1979 to 1988, which was a very successful period in Cliff's career. The tracks include True love ways (with the London Philharmonic Orchestra), Suddenly (with Olivia Newton John), She means nothing to me (with Phil Everly) and All I ask of you (with Sarah Brightman).

Of the solo tracks here, We don't talk anymore (a UK number one hit in 1979 - the oldest track here) and Mistletoe and wine (a Christmas song and a UK number one hit in 1988 - the newest track here) are the most famous but there are many other great songs including Dreaming, Some people and My pretty one.

Of course, the committed fans will (if they can afford it) already have the six-CD singles boxed set and the more recent Duets part-compilation. Between them, they contain everything that you'll find here, but for those who are less committed, this compilation fairly represents the period covered.

Cliff had a few minor hits during the eighties that aren't included but this is a fine collection, proving that Cliff was able to adapt his music to appeal to a new generation of fans.

If you enjoy Cliff's music of the eighties and aren't bothered about (or already have) his other music, you'll love this set. If you buy this together with 40 golden greats (covering his earlier music), you'll have the majority of Cliff's hits from his first thirty years of music.

Fabulous, fantastic compilation of hits from a period when Cliff was a chart force to be reckoned with. Musically, he was on fire, releasing top-drawer albums and belting singles, most of which are included here. Track-by-track:
1: 'SOME PEOPLE" Gorgeous song, niftily-produced and sung with conviction
2: "WIRED FOR SOUND" Clever composition, and Cliff is convincing as he celebrates the then-new joy of listening to music on the move
3: "ALL I ASK OF YOU" Less-than-compelling duet with Sarah Brightman. Competent but uninspiring
4: "CARRIE" Another major hit, this is a strong track with a slightly sinister edge, telling as it does the story of a missing girl
5: "TRUE LOVE WAYS" Impeccable performance from Cliff as he gives this old song a tender treatment
6: "DREAMIN'" An insistent, uptempo track benefitting from a great tune by Alan Tarney and a first-rate lyric by Leo Sayer. Spurred on by Sayer's presence in the studio, Cliff sings with enthusiam and the result is pop perfection
7: "SHE MEANS NOTHING TO ME" Wonderful, rockin' duet with Phil Everly, and further proof that Cliff could do no wrong in this productive period of his lengthy career
8: "A LITTLE IN LOVE" Exquisite pop, compact and satisfying
9: "DADDY'S HOME" Cliff makes this delightful ballad his own. Could have been sickly sweet... but it isn't, and it really works
10: "WE DON'T TALK ANYMORE" The song that effectively re-launched Cliff' career, this sounds as fresh and engaging as it did on release
11: 'NEVER SAY DIE" Sleek and groovy, this song features an expertly-executed rap by Cliff.
