Product description

Product Description

Twenty tracks recorded between 1928 and 1935 which demonstrate how the Nashville born pianist and vocalist, along with guitarist Scrapper Blackwell, launched the whole urban blues tradition and changed the landscape of that musical genre forever. Starting with the highly successful 'How Long, How Long Blues' cut in Indianapolis in 1928 the set includes recordings from Chicago,New York and St Louis, before closing with the prophetic ' Six Feet Cold in the Ground' laid down in Chicago in 1935, just before his death. With informative notes and session details this set is part of the Complete Blues series, described by Uncut magazine as ' a dazzling, comprehensive story of the blues...the most user-friendly compendium on the market'.
