Format: Hardcover
there are plenty of great books out there about database, that's one of them, things didn't change much during years so this one is still a valid book. Good if you are interested in know as much as you can about Relational Database, if you just want to learn how to make databases then a week course on oracle it's already enough to be a code-monkey. Have a look also to "Godel, Escher, Bach" as a plus.
