What I got instead was a picture that was not clear in some places (burred). The editing was bad. I expected to see Catherine walking up the aisle what I got was her at the beginning of the church and then her at the alter no walk in between. They missed her brother's reading, they more or less missed the marriage ceremony, Her bow to the Queen was not there.
William and Harry's drive up the mall was not there,I was under the impression that Prince Charles was William's father they never mention him and more or less cut him from any shot. They missed the wedding guests, (only showing Elton John & Tara 'no nose' T) no Royal family arriving they only wanted to show the Politician's i.e David Cameron and John Major they missed most of the wedding!!!
What you had instead were all these presenter's giving their opinion of how the day went and what Catherine was wearing. Eve Pollard it was not your wedding, you would of thought this DVD was meant to be 'All About Eve'. They also spent most of the time going over and showing previous Royal Wedding the Queen's, Margaret's, Anne's, Fergie's Princess Grace and of course Diana's, like they were trying to fill up the tape. Just a pity that they did not show more of William's and Catherine's Wedding the people who this DVD was meant to be about.
Very disappointing DVD, stick with the BBC or ITV, I would return it if I could. I have not watch the first DVD in the pack about the Royal Engagement who know's what kind of mish mash I will be watching.
In short it felt like they had not been invited and had bought along an undercover camera that they pull out every now and again.
The first disc of the two, is essentially the backstory of how William and Kate met. There's plenty of footage of a young William (from his days as a toddler, in the arms of Princess Diana) up to his days at University, where he first set eyes on Kate at a fashion show. Equally, there's a wealth of information about Kate and her family. It's all done in a very bright and breezy style, as evidenced by some of the interviewees (the editor of 'Heat' magazine, the Sun's Royal correspondent, etc.)
It doesn't shy away from showing some of the less than happy moments in the lives of William and his immediate family, such as the death of his mother, and some of Harry's clangers (such as his wearing of the Nazi costume at a party). It also shows Charles' disdain for reporters and the press in general. It certainly adds an element of edginess that is sadly lacking in some of the other DVD releases available. If it had only featured a few choice moments from Prince Philip, this would have been perfect!!
The second disc concentrates on the wedding day itself. Things slow down a bit here and there are a lot of lingering shots of the crowds and the Abbey. Plenty of footage of guests arriving. To be honest, some of it is a bit dull, but at the same time, it captures the feel of the day, as watching it on TV, it seemed to go on forever, waiting for people to arrive and be seated.
There are excerpts from previous Royal weddings over the years, which is a nice touch.
What the disc does do very well, is capture the enthusiasm and excitement of the day itself, featuring plenty of interviews with the general public and an assortment of royal reporters and commentators. There's a lot of talk of the wedding dress and speculation about who the designer will be, before we ultimately see Kate and William together.
Despite there not being a great deal of footage of the wedding itself, there is of course the famous balcony kiss, which is repeated several times over (and in slow motion, on one occasion). To finish off, we see William driving away with Kate in his father's Aston Martin DB6 (very James Bond!)
I would happily recommend this DVD set to anyone who is fan of the Royal family. As a 2 disc set, with a total running time of just under 2hrs and 20mins, it was well worth the money (it comes housed in a very nice little slipcase as well, thank you very much!)
If you already own the Royal Wedding DVD itself, (or recorded it off the television), then this would serve as an excellent companion piece.
