Primates of the World This is an excellent book and is full of detailed information on all of the different species of primates. It is up to date, informative, well written and beautifully illustrated. I have quite a few books on primates, as I am doing a diploma in primatology, and this is one of my favourite ones. It covers all aspects of primate life and also conservation, primate status and how to go about seeing them in their natural habitat.
Here is the perfect introduction to the primates, all 300 or so, some charismatic and iconic, many little known to most of us but equally fascinating. It is beautifully produced with a perfect balance between text, maps, diagrams and, of course stunning, often very moving photographs. We are only one primate species among many but as this book reminds us the future of all lies in the hands of ourselves alone. Suffering terribly from habitat loss and the ravages of the bush meat trade our relatives need all the help they can get. This excellent book with its inspirational foreword by Jane Goodall makes its own informed contribution to that now desperate endeavour.
This was purchased as a gift for a relative who is actively working with primates. She was delighted as it is full of easy to read, useful information and at the same time a beautiful book to own. Lovely illustrations and one of many Primate reference books available that are essential reading for professional keepers and primate enthusiasts.
