Product Description

Review

"This beautifully produced book greatly expands the nature and ambition of most drawing exhibition catalogues. Petherbridge combines the keen eye of a curator with the sensitivity and technical understanding of a practicing artist. . . . This handsome volume is a delight to peruse and a rich resource for anyone interested in drawing."--W. E./i>--W. E. Wallace "CHOICE "

"A dazzling selection."--Kenneth Baker, "San Francisco Chronicle"--Kenneth Baker "San Francisco Chronicle "

I bought this for my husband who is studying for an MA. He is fascinated by it and it has been a really though provoking read for him. Deanna Petherbridge has taken a unique look at drawing and the ways in which it is developing across the Western World. There are many high quality illustrations of beautiful drawings, both traditional and modern. This book was worth every penny paid for it but be warned it's a very sizeable book- probably not one to read when commuting!

If your practice is predominantly drawing - I reccommend this book. It appears to have taken most of her professional life to complete and is massive in it's ambition. A beautiful and inspiring book.

A brilliant book, absolutely -- imaginative, learned, thorough, keenly intellectual, and beautifully illustrated. I don't see how any other book on drawing can stand up to it.
