Product Description

From the Back Cover

Kylie Hamilton is an Australian executive working for the international mining company Global Resources. Sent to South Africa to investigate a new site on the edge of the Kruger National Park, she becomes caught up in the battle over the area's resources. A group of illegal miners in the company's Barberton operation, made up of men with nothing to lose, kidnap one of the legal employees, forcing manager Cameron McMurtrie to intervene. These men are led by a fierce opponent - a man intent on destroying Cameron. With Kylie and Cameron forced to work side by side, their mutual dislike evolves into solidarity before becoming something more. Together, there's a chance they can rescue the kidnapped man.

Don't get me wrong - I thoroughly enjoy Tony Parker's stories but I did find rather too many loose ends were tied up with too many twists in order to come to a conclusion in this one. But then again - it is a novel and is meant to be entertaining - which it certainly was even though I did find myself being critical instead of just going with the flow and enjoying it. I have now read all of his books and look forward to his next offering.

Good book but preferred some of his earlier books - this book seems unreal and exaggerated in places.
Overall though an enjoyable read.

I have read all of Tony Park's books and having lived in this area of South Africa for 20 years would say ALL his details right down to the Afrikaans words/sayings are 100% accurate and as you read his books you are transported to the African bush. I would say this book is one of his best. I have gone as far as to buy several copies to give as presents to friends and each one of them has thought it is a fantastically good book and are buying his previous books now as they are also hooked.
Some reviewers of his books have compared him to Wilbur Smith and having also read all of Wilbur Smiths books I would say that whilst they are excellent Tony Park's books are better I have tried to pinpoint the reason and think that perhaps it is because they are all written in the present whereas Wilbur Smith's books are set in the past.

Tony, your books are great. I have read each one and cannot wait for your next book. Having lived in Mpumalanga for 9 years and having worked and having played cricket and bowls in the Lowveld towns that are mentioned in this book, I felt that I was almost a part of the story. A great read, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Hope the next one is due soon.
